Schnitzel Platz in Glendale Heights is perhaps one of the most lively and entertaining eateries throughout the area and is known for hosting many events and is special enough to help ring in the holidays. In fact, Schnitzel Platz will often feature a special menu that has items only available throughout select times of the year like Oktoberfest. There are, of course, plenty of consistent favorites you will find too.

Some consistent menu items include the Kaiser in the neighborhood, whole suckling pig, Deutsche Haus platte, schweine braten and the sauerbraten. Make sure you also try the many schnitzels, of course, like the pork schnitzel, weiner schnitzel or the jager schnitzel. Schnitzel Platz also offers a kid’s menu that makes this restaurant a family-friendly place to go. and don't forget to come in and enjoy some authentic German polka music on weekends and our great selections of German bier imported from Germany!

This is our favorite German Restaurant and takes us back to our time living in Germany. Great food, great service and great time!

It has been 16 years since we moved away from the Chicago area and the last time we visited the Schnitzel Platz. We found that the new owners kept the quality of the food up to the standards of the previous owner (Wolfgang) and we enjoyed our meal as we always did in the past. The prices were higher but this was to be expected as things have changed quite a bit in the last 16 years.

The food was plentiful and delicious WE have been there like 3 times in the last 1 1/5 years. Haven't gone home disappointed. Atmosphere wasn't loud and you could hear the other person talking. Couldn't stay longer for the music.

Schnitzelplatz tries to have an authentic Oktoberfest but overall it’s a bit “cheesy” imo. Sang happy birthday to day about 12 times during our 2 hour dinner and musician really butchered some of the German phrases typically used in Germany (but he tried!) Food and service was great. We sat inside so maybe the Oktoberfest experience is better if you sit in the outdoor tent? Not sure I’d go back in October- but food did not disappoint:)

It was another great time and experience during October Fest. I was a bit disappointed in the food this time. The dumpling was soggy and the schnitzel tasted a bit like it was store bought. However, the ambiance and company was great!

We were so ready for good German food. Started with the Nurnberger Schmecker with Lover sausage, a homemade cheese and schmaltz. Came with a small cup of each and 2 pieces rye bread. The liver sausage was runny, the schmaltz was ok, the cheese was a soft spread and not good. Second was the German soft pretzel with bier cheese. The pretzel was hard and seemed stale. Then we had potato pancakes. These were absolutely amazing! Delicious and very crispy. The Deutch Hausse plate was a mix of good and bad. The good: sides of sauerkraut, red cabbage and German potato salad. Bad: Pork scnitzel; greasy and thin. Brought dessert home so we’ll see. Service was rushed even though we got there at 4:15. We did enjoy the accordion music and singing. Overall, well over $100 for 2 people, not in a hurry to return (except maybe to pick up some of those potato pancakes.
