Regardless if you’re there for happy hour, Sunday brunch, dinner, or one of their special events, Scalo won’t disappoint you. It’s one of the very best, consistently good restaurants in Albuquerque. Scalo’s chief and wait staff will make your dinning experience one that will make you want to return again.

The mussels are still fantastic: large and bathed in a delicious, slightly spicy tomato broth, generous enough to be a meal in itself, with a salad. The new chef has added a few items to the recently reconfigured menu, which is ambitious. We enjoyed good service, good company and good food. A notch down from the last chef, but still worth repeated visits.

We were seated upstairs away from other guests and the staff were very friendly, attentive and professional. The food was delicious and so was the wine. 10 people were served and everyone had glowing reviews of their food.

Overall good food, and a really nice outdoor seating area. Service is good. The food was great the first time I went, but this time seemed more average. My pasta sauce was supposed to have meat in it but barely had any. The mocktail was really good. Overall a good atmosphere but food should be amazing based on the high prices.

The restaurant has a new menu and a new chef. We were excited to try some new dishes. The drinks were delicious as usual but the entrees were lacking. The veal piccata had no sauce and was tough, dry and overcooked.

A special dinner for my boyfriend's birthday. The waitress was lovely and very responsive. Best prosciutto and melon I have ever had, including Italy. They could use a sommelier, and we stumbled upon a delicious wine, well priced. First pasta dish we needed to send back (cavatelli) as it was nearly cold and definitely not delicious. It was replaced with a wonderful mushroom tagliatelle. Boyfriend loved the saltimbocca. Our apple dessert was terrific too. A lovely place to dine, with wonderful waitstaff and overall delicious food.

I have eaten at Scalo a number of times both before and since it's post-pandemic/quarantine reopening, and it seemed they were very off last night. Mainly it was a matter of pacing and service as the food was fine and delicious. It was bizarre that though we put in a order for a bottle of wine, it was not brought out and available to us until AFTER our yummy though quite overpriced appetizer of proscuitto and ripe melon, and only AFTER I inquired of it to our waitress. The interior dining room was not particularly busy, but it was a temperate night and perhaps the outdoor dining patio may have accounted for the significant delays between the appetizer, the introduction of the wine, the serving of our entrees, between the entrees and the dessert dish, and then between dessert and both getting the check and paying the bill. Interestingly enough, though a manager apologized saying that our requested Tart Tatin was no longer available and he asked us if we'd like an alternate dessert (we said we'd take the creme brulee), the apple tart showed up at our table without an explanation. Happily the food was at the right temperature despite the uncharacteristic delays, and all in all we did have a nice meal celebrating my friend's birthday.

Scalo has always been one of our favorite restaurants in Abq. but we know that restaurants can have a strange night every once in a while. Last night at Scalo was one of those nights. We started by ordering a Caesar salad and were told they were out of Caesar salad. We then asked our waiter about ordering the wedge salad with Caesar salad dressing. Our waiter, Sergio, came back from the ordering station and told us that they were also out of the wedge salad which is primarily iceberg lettuce. We opted for no salad and then noticed that their usual spaghetti and meatball dish was missing from the menu and was replaced with "Pasta for Two" which included pasta, meatballs and sausage but for two people only, which we ordered. The dish was good but was served on a cold platter and the food turned cold half way through the meal. On a high note, the manager asked about our experience and we relayed the night's info to him and he was very apologetic and sent a dessert over to our table free of charge. Our waiter, Sergio was attentive as usual and tried his best with the situation he was faced with. We still love Scalo and we hope that they can cure their problems swiftly. Thank you Sergio!
