We went for a special occasion. Knew it was expensive but we’re happy thinking we would get something special. We didn’t. Tables too close together, all though it was quite empty we were squeezed in between too tables. I got to hear their conversations over ours. The afternoon tea arrived. Only offered one type of tea and when we requested more we were only given top up of our first order , while the milk that was delivered when we first sat down (we were not asked what milk we wanted and actually had herbal so didn’t need milk) sat unused on crowded table ,sandwiches were quite nice but seemed all very processed, and placed snuggly together as straight for the cellophane and fridge. The cake stand arrived after, so high and long we couldn’t see each other. , leaning to the side our heads nearing the next table. The tables are too small , everything seems to be set to eek as much profit as possible. Although the cakes were quite nice they weren’t amazing, and lots of ‘jelly’ I worried after that gelatine had been used and they weren’t vegetarian ? When booking it was stated you needed to confirm 48hours in advance if vegetarian - you don’t. I we were asked on 4 separate occasions if it was a special occasion. In the middle of the cake service we were bought a large plate (hardly any room, big shuffle round ) with a tiny cake and a candle, we had a tower of cakes - didn’t need or want another cake, more imaginative would have been a little chocolate or something to take home. A card was given but it was really a pre printed compliment slip. Just really disappointing. Staff were nice but the the atmosphere was flat. We were never asked if we would like another tea, The pianist only played half the time we were there and he was only replaced with the quiet mumblings of people trying not to be overheard by the next table. So no one seemed to be having fun. Just came out £260 lighter and a bit sad. They really need some attention detail. The
