The food was phenomenal and staff were really nice. I appreciate that the music was at a level that allows for a conversation (which does not seem to be the case at most restaurants these days). It is one of the most expensive meals my husband and I have had however (including international meals). So likely not something we can afford to do again unfortunately.

Wonderful experience at the Omakase dinner. Relaxing atmosphere and attentive service. The food was delicious and prepared fresh in front of us. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique dining experience or a special occasion meal.

This was our first time dining here and we will definitely return. The service was friendly and inviting in a relaxed and intimate setting. The prices reflected the quality but well worth the splurge. The wagyu sushi and the tuna sushi were outstanding but none of our dishes disappointed. The house made ginger and soy sauce were unique (and delicious) additions to the meal. It was a nice personal touch that the chef/owner came over to chat about their style and the components of the dishes.

This is not a review on food as we did not get to eat any. Why, you ask...we were on an extended layover in Calgary and decided to trek downtown and have a sushi dinner. Found Satsuki, made a reservation and arrived 10 minutes early and was seated in a couple of minutes of our 7 pm reservation. We then sat until we decided to leave at 7:25 pm because NOT ONE STAFF person ever visited us, not even to drop off water. In fact, two other groups of diners showed up and were sat in our vicinity AFTER us and 1. received human contact, 2. received water, 3. had their order taken within 10 minutes of being sat. One group was sat at the same communal high top table we were seated and received the dutiful attention of the waitress. She even looked back at us and came twice to bring water and yo take their order and then brought tea and NOT ONCE ever addressed us. We sat for close to 30 minutes assuming one of the three waitresses we saw would come as two principal people behind the sushi bar seemed to be preoccupied providing, what we saw was a special service to 5-6 individuals. Let me repeat: within 30 minutes not one staff person arrived to ask or do anything. This is not an inexpensive restaurant and people dining there are willing to pay the price to eat there so, note to ownership: it might be nice if your staff could at least acknowledge your clients.

Fresh and delicious sushi. The sablefish risotto was very tasty. The matcha dessert was outstanding. But the place is very small, mostly bar sitting

The only thing that I was a little dissapointed about was I had booked a table, and when I got there they seated me at the bar, and then I had to wait for a table but only because I had mentioned that I booked a "table" on my reso. It was taken note of and I was just given what was next at least 30 or more mins later as an option. The homemade ginger and soy sauce was great, overall the food and service was fantastic otherwise. That is the only reason I put "3" stars for service otherwise would've been a 4-5.

The omakase experience at Satsuki os very special and unique. Chef May home-makes everything including the Shouyu and all her sauces for all the appetizers and sushi. The omakase has a lot of special fishes flown in rom Japan. The selection of sushi does changeover time since the chef will modified it based on what is in season. The sushi selection today finished with aburi wagyu and foie gras and it was absolutely amazing. The miso soup and dessert was also fantastic. It is an amazing culinary experience.

My husband and I went with two of our grown children. We shared a variety of appetizers and ordered several pieces of sushi. All the food was delicious and there are non-fish items too. Very friendly staff.

Is has to be the best Japanese restaurant in Calgary. And I can be quite critical about Japanese food since I travel to to Japan a lot. The food and service were both top-notch. Thank you for the wonderful omakase, Chef May. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am looking forward to coming back gor another meal.
