At Sarto, we believe that poring over the details is always worth it; and that the joys of a meal go far beyond the food itself. In keeping with Italy’s authentic, old-world traditions, we’ve approached our menu in much the same way an Italian chef opening a restaurant here in America might ── with dishes composed of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, that honor our region in a modern way.

Prepared from an open concept kitchen, our menu features modern Italian fare made with the freshest local ingredients Rhode Island has to offer, complimented by award – winning wines and a carefully curated cocktail program.

Sarto is located just moments from local performing arts and convention centers in the historic Teste brownstone building. Originally built in 1860, our restaurant was once home to an apothecary, a money-to-loan business and later the Philip Wolfe Haberdasher, which inspired the name Sarto or tailor in Italian.

“Jazz It Up” with dinner, drinks and live music at the Sarto, as local trios perform hot Jazz from 8-11pm weekly on Saturdays. Out with a group? Perfect! Plan ahead and make online reservations for table service for you and your friends, so everyone has a seat during Jazz it up with Sarto! Heading to a show downtown? Be sure to stop by Sarto after the show and enjoy music, dessert or bar snacks and a late-night libation. As a proud supporter of local student musicians, Sarto will be booking college jazz groups to perform in the monthly calendar rotation. Are you a college student in a jazz group? Literary Experiences with Sarto

Sarto embraces the idea of coming together in person for special experiences, and the restaurant’s new Literary Experiences are perfect for getting your book club members together for an evening of cocktails and discussion after each read. Enjoy ordering off of Sarto’s food and drinks menus while you and your group discuss your most recent read. Accommodating book clubs from 6-15 guests, the restaurant has a number of tables perfect for groups, so everyone can be set together. If you let the restaurant know what book you’re reading Sarto will name one of it’s specialty cocktails after the book your reading that night! Experience available on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings. Complimentary valet parking for all guests!

This is a gem in Providence! Great, innovative menu. Excellent service - knowledgeable wait staff. My wife and I were in Providence for a couple of nights and came upon this wonderful establishment. Our waiter, Seth was a true professional. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My steak was pretty bad. No flavor at all and overcooked. Manager was nice and took it off the bill, but the meal was subpar. Staff and atmosphere were great.

Our server Abbey, was absolutely outstanding and made our dining experience superb. She was professional, social and the perfect person for us. The food and wine was delicious as usual and we enjoyed the jazz trio tho the vocalist wasn't the best. Can't wait to come back again

The food was good but the service was Outstanding! Our server Seth was an absolute delight and made us feel like celebrities. Will definitely go again!

Had a terrific experience here with our group of 6 over the Memorial Day weekend for dinner. The food was great, the service was friendly and relaxed (2 members of our group were quite late due to a train delay and the staff were totally unbothered by it) and I thought it was the perfect spot for a celebratory group dinner. Highly recommend!

Excellent and Delicious Italian cuisine. A hidden gem in Downtown Providence's restaurant scene. Though short staffed, service was superb. Definitely will return.

First Visit: We were so pleasantly surprised by the modern yet warm decor of the restaurant in this historic building, the high ceilings, beautiful bar and energetic vibe. The food was absolutely wonderful, recipes true to authentic Italian cuisine. While the menu changes to stay fresh, this night we had as antipasti charred pulpo with potatoes, warm olives (what an idea, the flavor of the olives truly popped) and burrata. Mains included a huge rib-eye with broccoli I and Porchetta - completely genuine with crispy exterior and rolled with fennel and other herbs in the Italian way, served with creamy polenta. Delicious. Sarto has a beautiful selection of organic and responsibly sourced spirits and wines. Our waiter, Jack, was a delight and made us feel so welcome - he was a standout. His recommendations were right on and he explained the offerings and the dishes in depth. Our experience was 110% positive and we will be back. Highly recommended! ----- Update 5/12/2024 We had Mother's Day dinner here and the food and service were spectacular. With the help of our wonderful server Rickie, we compiled a 4-course meal for all 5 of us to share (sons, wife and mother in law)... Antipasti: calamari salad, baby lettuce salad, carbonara fries and focaccia. Pasta: cacio e pepe; pappardelle with beef oxtail sausage ragu. Mains: pollo frito, seared scallops; Porchetta (authentic). Dessert: house made gelato, butter cake (served warm and made with the butter from the "fat washed rum" they make in house for use in their Fat Zach cocktail...so unique ) Everything was prepared and presented beautifully. Kitchen/chefs were right on despite a busy Mother's Day dinner hour. Our server Rickie was amazing. The manager greeted us warmly on arrival and thanked us upon leaving. We love this place!
