At Sarto, we believe that poring over the details is always worth it; and that the joys of a meal go far beyond the food itself. In keeping with Italy’s authentic, old-world traditions, we’ve approached our menu in much the same way an Italian chef opening a restaurant here in America might ── with dishes composed of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, that honor our region in a modern way.

Prepared from an open concept kitchen, our menu features modern Italian fare made with the freshest local ingredients Rhode Island has to offer, complimented by award – winning wines and a carefully curated cocktail program.

Sarto is located just moments from local performing arts and convention centers in the historic Teste brownstone building. Originally built in 1860, our restaurant was once home to an apothecary, a money-to-loan business and later the Philip Wolfe Haberdasher, which inspired the name Sarto or tailor in Italian.

"Jazz It Up" with Sarto - Jazz Night Table Service

“Jazz It Up” with dinner, drinks and live music at the Sarto, as local trios perform hot Jazz from 8-11pm weekly on Saturdays. Out with a group? Perfect! Plan ahead and make online reservations for table service for you and your friends, so everyone has a seat during Jazz it up with Sarto! Heading to a show downtown? Be sure to stop by Sarto after the show and enjoy music, dessert or bar snacks and a late-night libation. As a proud supporter of local student musicians, Sarto will be booking college jazz groups to perform in the monthly calendar rotation. Are you a college student in a jazz group? If so, send us an email to info@sartoprovidence.com for an audition! Complimentary valet parking.
Literary Experiences with Sarto

Sarto embraces the idea of coming together in person for special experiences, and the restaurant’s new Literary Experiences are perfect for getting your book club members together for an evening of cocktails and discussion after each read. Enjoy ordering off of Sarto’s food and drinks menus while you and your group discuss your most recent read. Accommodating book clubs from 6-15 guests, the restaurant has a number of tables perfect for groups, so everyone can be set together. If you let the restaurant know what book you’re reading Sarto will name one of it’s specialty cocktails after the book your reading that night! Experience available on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings. Complimentary valet parking for all guests!

Very excellent food and drinks. They seemed understaffed but were doing great with service despite this overall. They have jazz on Saturday nights which I strongly support. The music is a good volume so you can still have conversation. I went there last time. I was in Providence and will definitely go again. Walking distance from the graduate hotel- maybe 10 minutes tops.

Bland food and mixed service attention. The manager did, however, try hard to make it right and adjusted the bill.

Wonderful food and we loved the charcuterie board! The pasta was fantastic and the the fish was cooked to perfection.

I really want to like Sarto. I love the vibe and the space. However, after three tries: the service is slow (25+ min for drinks before dinner) and the prices are too high. The food is solid - but not wow. I don’t see myself returning.

This is a gem in Providence! Great, innovative menu. Excellent service - knowledgeable wait staff. My wife and I were in Providence for a couple of nights and came upon this wonderful establishment. Our waiter, Seth was a true professional. I highly recommend this restaurant.
