Chef Carta brings the authentic simple elegance of the Sardinian dining tradition to your table. Sardinian cuisine is known for the purity of food and flavors. To insure the authenticity of the dining experience Chef has imported an authentic hood wood-burning oven for the kitchen. The menu is focused on farm fresh and locally grown food. Chargrilled meats and local fish will be cooked in the oven as it is in Sardinia. Taste the Sardinia bread, know as Pane carasau, baked fresh daily which welcomes you at your table. The pasta dough is also made fresh daily. Revel in the authentic Sardinian paella made with fregola and enjoy the unique flavor of bottarga. To maximize the pleasure of sharing good food with good friends, Sardinia has 45 seats- 24 in the main dining room, a chefs table for 10 and 13 seats in the bar area. This is the 2nd time dining here. it was just ok the 1st time but wanted to try again. We had reservations and arrived and was seated right away. Friendly staff. Restaurant was nice, clean and the tables were set well. The issue we had (both times now) was the food. We ordered the Cioppino appetizer and it came out hot the taste however was very fishy. We get this all the time from restaurants and never as "fishy" tasting and smelling as last night. Next was entrées, My wife ordered Gnocchi with meat ragu and I had the Red Snapper special. Both dishes came out hot, but again the flavors were not good. My wife's dish was overly salted where all you tasted was the salt. My fish, like the appetizer dish was very fishy in taste and smell. This was not fresh. We brought our own wine and at the end of dinner I was surprised to see 40.00 corkage fee. All the waitress did was open the bottle. She never even came by to fill our glasses as we were getting low. I completely understand and expect corkage fees but 40.00 seems excessive. Most are 15 to 25 range. I could not complain about this since that was on me, not to check in advance. We mentioned to the waitress that dinner was just "ok" and the tastes of the food was "off", but she merely say "I see" and never said another word. I would not recommend this place after our 2 failed attempts there. There are far better Italian food restaurants in and around this area. We wanted this to be our "go to" dinner place because of the ambience but we will be searching for another.

Food is excellent and special, representing the Italian region of Sardinia. The whole bass roasted in salt is spectacular. Service is wonderful. Really lovely wine list, well curated, but I always get a bottle from Sardinia. they even serve a fantastic warm zabaglione, you can’t get that anywhere and it’s perfection. pastas are homemade and hard to choose from, they are all so good. Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen, this one is worth the trip.

One of if not THE BEST restaurant in Sarasota. The finest ingredients are authentically prepared to deliver dishes that are simple and flavorful- never over-sauced or over-spiced. The quality of the ingredients' and preparation do the talking- and never disappoints! Paired with a fantastic selection of wines from Sardinia, you are in for a wonderful meal- every time!

We celebrated our anniversary at Sardinia and it was a wonderful experience. It was a slow (Tuesday, rainy) night but that didn't matter for us. We had super pasta dishes and because of the great starters, we could not finish the pastas. We are now enjoying the Sardinia food at home for lunch today.

Vevy nice dinner, service, and setting on Labor Day, but the temperature was just too cold, I had to get sweater out of my car.

The food was excellent - we had several appetizers - the mushrooms with parmesan crisp basket was unique and delicious. We were a party of five, had five different entrees - all perfectly prepared, generous servings, a very good value. I had the salt encrusted Bass - melted in your mouth. You could pay 50% more at some other fine Italian restaurants in Sarasota. My only suggestion for improvement was the pace of service. The restaurant is not large, and it was not completely full, yet the pauses before ordering, before the first food came out and between appetizer and entree were noticeably long. We were seated at 6:30 PM and left the restaurant at 8:30 PM. I don't mind a relaxed dinner where conversation is encouraged, but this was a bit too relaxed a pace. I only mention this so the staff can consider ways to improve because I do plan to come back and do strongly recommend dining at Sardinia.

My wife and I dined with another couple. It was a wonderful dining experience. All the food was delicious with one exception - the veal chop which I ordered. It was very ordinary and far from the best I've ever had but that's just me, you may love it. I would certainly dine here again.
