I have come here every time I'm in Chicago, and ref'd everyone I know who travels there as well. I tell them about the ambiance, and attentiveness of the staff who always made it a point welcome me back. This time I was bringing my wife and family for the first time, for my wives birthday. I had bragged about the service, and food, but not a single mention of the occasion in the booking, nor did the waiter ask or make it special. The waiter was absent almost the entire night, the bread we got with our oil/vinegar was rock hard and cold, so I got up to ask someone for a basket of warm bread because we never saw our waiter. They quickly said they'd bring some but it never came. The table was so small and cramped for our party that we could barely put our three appetizers on the table. The main course and apps were great, we just had to wait a very long time to put in an order, and were not able to get drinks consistently at the table. This is the worst experience I'd every had here, and I'm guessing it's because they are now so busy and crowded that they lost what made them special in a city that thrives on money over service. The tip was already included so there was no incentive for good service. If you live in the area, and don't mind a noisy Friday with decent food it's probably worth it, but I won't be flying back to eat there.

typically great neighborhood Italian spot, even busy on a Sunday night. Very good food and great atmosphere with attentive (if someone stretched) staff.

Incredible food, and the nicest staff. The browned butter and butternut squash pasta was to die for! Our server was super attentive, and incredibly helpful. We will definitely go back.

Very busy Friday night. Food is always high quality and service was really good. Noise level upstairs was manageable. The house was packed!! There were a few people braving the fall weather outside for service as well. Always an enjoyable experience!

I will start out by saying that the food at Sapori Trattoria is outstanding. Every item we ordered was delicious. The dining experience, however, leaves much to be desired. When we arrived (on time for our reservation) we saw the outdoor patio reasonably full with diners, so we asked for an outside table. The host seated us at a tiny table off to the side, right next to an alley and empty dish / glass holders. We asked if we could sit instead at one of the empty tables in the center of the patio (there were at least three available). We were told "No, it is still early. We need to save those for larger parties". Instead, we were seated at a tiny table on the opposite side of the patio. After our order was taken, the appetizer came out, followed by the entrees. Our salads were totally forgotten. To their credit, the kitchen did remake the entrees so they came out fresh after the salads. However, right from the onset of our meal, we noticed that no other diners were being seated on the patio. Rather, the staff began cleaning up the vacated tables, removing all table linens, stacking the chairs, and then removing the table themselves! By the end of our meal, we were literally the only diners out there (and the last physical table)- and it was barely past 9:00pm! If the staff no longer cared to be serving outside that evening, the host should have told us that when we arrived. We would have preferred an indoor table rather than dining alone. In short, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out!"

I brought some colleagues who were in town for a conference, so they could enjoy a "real Italian meal" away from all of the downtown restaurants. Sapori was a big hit. Our server, Camryn, was great... welcoming, warm, and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic... well prepared, very ample servings, and leaving us with the sense that everything was from a family recipe. Everyone raved about the restaurant, and repeatedly commented about how nice it was to get away from the fancy restaurants and franchises for a down to earth local meal.

Daniel was a great server. Food was excellent. We had the burrata appetizer, the sea bass, and the Cappellacci Di Zucca. The chocolate cake was recommended by Daniel and he was spot on.
