What do you do when you want something done properly – especially when you’re a long way from home and you simply can’t find exactly what you’re looking for? Well, the tried and tested answer, of course, is to do it yourself – and that is exactly what Giuseppe, founder of Sapore Vero did, when he created our first Pizzeria in Beckenham, South East London – now entering its 11th year of trade – and then opened a 2nd in nearby Hither Green in 2019. After moving to London (quite some years ago now!), Giuseppe quickly found himself becoming frustrated with a lack of truly authentic Italian pizza, “that I liked”, as he puts it, produced using the methods that he grew up with, like generations before him, in his native Calabria, Southern Italy.

As they say; when in Crystal Palace…do as the Romans do! Available from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and from midday until 6 p.m. from Friday-Sunday. £15 per person Walk-ins welcome.

    Although the service was lovely, I found the food to be rather average and the 'espresso' to be very poor. To be honest, I was disappointed with the location (which perhaps I should have checked better but I am not familiar with Crystal Palace) ...as the place is on a noisy road by traffic lights....the dark weather did not help. This is of course not the fault of the restaurant, but the food was disappointing... apart from the pizza.

    Very good Italian food. Slightly off temp on hot food. Good but inconsistent hospitality as the night got busier. Overall A grade.

    The food was full of flavour; the service was impeccable and Memo's singing was wonderfully entertaining. I've dined there before and will definitely dine there again!

    I am so impressed with this restaurant , food was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend the Pizza and tiramisu. Service was good and wait time was short. Overall I am very pleased. Keep it up :)

    We had an absolutely amazing time. Very pleasantly surprised at the food, prices and how friendly the waitresses were! Would 100 percent reccomned to anyone. We will be back very soon for many more meals.
