Sushi master Ryuichi Nakano casts a wide net at SanKai, drawing longtime fans and welcoming newcomers to his intimate new sushi restaurant in the heart of downtown Edmonds. Enjoy our cozy dining room, omakase sushi bar, or heated outside dining in our domes.

Please note we are a small restaurant and children (babies) need to me accounted for in your reservation if you need seating/highchair. Stroller space is limited and may not always be accommodated.

One of our favorite restaurants in Edmonds. We eat there at least once a month and are never disappointed. You do have to remember to make a reservation. The food is always enjoyable and the service is warm and friendly

We had a wonderful dining experience, even with our young children in tow. The staff was welcoming, patient, and attentive to our family’s needs. Highly recommend this place for families looking for a welcoming environment and excellent service!

We are regulars at SanKai. The best nigiri ever, fish is always so fresh and chef does an amazing job of rotating special, in season fish. Service is always excellent. We typically prefer to sit at the bar to chat with the chefs, but were seated in one of the outside domes this time and it was SO COOL! It was heated and they had a speaker playing music so the ambiance was on point! Note - If you’re a fancy roll person, SanKai might not be for you (they do have a handful of excellent rolls, but it’s not their focus) but if you’re into really good fresh fish then this is the place!

We sat at the bar and really appreciated the service and information provided to help us choose what to order. Our first visit and it was really enjoyable. Food was wonderful.

Another amazing meal here. I love this restaurant. The fish is consistently amazing. And the service is excellent. Sankai is not just my favorite sushi restaurant, but my favorite restaurant overall in the Pacific Northwest.

this was the third time I’ve had a subpar experience at SanKai - a friend of mine routinely has ‘an amazing time’ every time he comes in so I thought I’d give it one more chance… no. The special meichidai was mealy, the king salmon nigiri could literally have been pink slime cat food, and when I said I hadn’t liked the warasa (yellowtail) special b/c it was too lean and had zero flavor, it was not taken off the bill. I won’t visit again.

Another wonderful meal at the SanKai sushi bar. The fish was amazing. Service was excellent. And the chef kept us entertained with detailed explanations for the origins and preparation of the fish.

It’s our favorite sushi restaurant, and tonight didn’t disappoint as every bite made me want to do a happy dance because it was that delectable. I love everything about this place—quaint, not too noisy, not cold, not drafty, nice people, gluten free menu, priced fair, outstanding food, great location for walking around before/after, easy online ordering with a request section for each item ordered, and an easy reservation system. Plus, I have several severe food sensitivities and they have always treated me well, and I’ve never gotten sick. Once, I ordered when I was waiting on the Kingston ferry, and it was ready for pick up by the time I got off the ferry. Love it!

We love the food there. It is great quality. The service is also very good, but I would like to add that they approach our our table often and at times feel rushed to leave. Otherwise great location and excellent food.
