Traditionally inspired from dishes, ingredients & techniques spanning the Malay archipelago, namely Singapore & Indonesia. Regionally influenced by Northern California’s palette of producers, produce, and presentation. Essentially: expressing these tropical, cosmopolitan island flavor profiles through the abundance of what thrives in Northern California’s Mediterranean climate and terrain. Nusantara cuisines could be characterized as intense, rich, spiced (more than spicy). Steeped in time and layers of complexity, both in the kitchen and in the long history of diverse peoples in this part of the world. Chef Nora Haron draws from this wealth of culinary knowledge, plus contrasting Californian influences, which some could say to be the polar opposite: that deconstructed-composed, whole-ingredients-laid-bare simplicity, the lightness that has evolved in California eating through the few decades of this relatively young place.

I brought my team here for an office party. The food was amazing. There was not enough wait staff for our party size. I had to clear our own dishes to make room for some party activities. The server was appreciative, but I shouldn’t have had to do that. All that said, we still had a great experience and I will return again because the food is so amazing .

Gado Gado is a perfect vegan dish. It would be nice if one could get some healthy tempeh. Fried tempeh is not very healthy

We'd never had Indonesian cuisine previously. Our waitress gave us a lot of tips and helped us choose dishes that we'd like especialy since some of our party were vegetarians. The food came out quickly. The Tahu Goreng was outstanding. As was the Gado Gado and the Garlic Mushroom Noodles. Both were very flavorful. We also ordered the Coconut Tapioca Panna Cotta which had minimal sugar which we liked a lot. The waitress brought out an additional Sponge cake with Coconut Crisp on the house. We really appreciated her gesture. We've become big fans of San Dai.

If you have time to enjoy an amazing brunch by chef Nora then you will be pleasantly surprised. The food is delicious, prepared to perfection, and equally visually appealing. I have filled her for years and the food she parpares never disappoints.

Food was amazing! Service was ok. Our server forgot to put in drink orders and was slow to come around to check on us. The place is very loud and a bit difficult to have conversations.

My husband’s dish was Seafood Mee Goreng. This was supposed to have baby octopus into. We were a little bit more than half way done eating when we realized it didn’t have baby octopus in it. We doubled checked the menu and it was listed as one of the ingredients. So we asked the waiter what happened to it? We were told that they didn’t have it and would take five dollars off the bill. To me, this is unacceptable. If the restaurant knew that they were out of a key ingredient, they should offer the diner a chance to change the order. It looked like they hoped we would not notice the omission. The Nasu drink was amazing. But the issue with my husband’s dish ruined my birthday lunch date with him. I felt bad for him. It is rare that we eat in restaurants.

Fantastic food! Chicken satay, vegetarian salad, yummy beef dishes, etc. Lengthy lunch menu to choose from. Server honored our request to sit in a much quieter area. We will be back!

Restaurant was completely empty at 8pm on a Sunday. Couple of items in the small menu were unavailable, however the chef was able to be creative and make an alternative for my wife who is vegetarian. Not impressed with the food. Great presentation though.
