The food was the major downfall of Sam Hill. The restaurant has excellent ambiance and the patio/grassy space outside is amazing. I love the whole vibe Sam Hill has going on. However, the food was not tasty. The spicy chicken sandwich had both dry-rub and hot sauce, making a muddy combination and the broccoli and rice were dry and undercooked. We didn't enjoy the ricotta appetizer either. I hope the food can improve because I'd definitely like to return to this restaurant.

Food was really good, service was okay but not great. Server was really nice but took a long time to order and we had to ask for refills on drinks.

We had a large party of 7. Seated outdoors on the deck. Food was really good, but service was even better. Very nice experience.

The staff and service at Sam Hill could not have been more accommodating for our large party. We originally asked to sit outside but it was too warm for some of the small children that accompanied our group, so we changed our mind and asked if it was possible to move inside. The staff was friendly, accepting, and attentive to our requests and were even understanding when we had to push our reservation back a bit because of traffic. I highly recommend this place for the experience alone, but the professionalism and demeanor of the entire staff at Sam Hill as earned our business for years to come!

A group of 5 had dinner on a Tuesday night between 6:00-7:30pm. The parking lot was packed but lucky we had reservations and were seated right away. We noticed several gnats flying around as well as a mosquito or two. We ordered drinks and our favorites were the Moscow Mule and Lagunitas Hoppy Refresher with a lime. We ordered the crab dip appetizer and didn't enjoy the consistency. It was more like a smashed up crab cake with cheese on top rather than a dip. The Hot Brown Fries were amazingly delicious and would order again. We had a mixed review with our entrees. The Smash Burgers were a bit hit as were the crab cakes. The Fried Chicken sandwich was disappointing. The balance was off since the chicken in the patty was cut real thin and the breading around was super thick. I don't think they have enough staff working that night since our waiter had so many tables. We had to track down our server to ask for water refills, a missing place setting, and our drink orders. We weren't really in a hurry but the waiting was noticeable. We would probably go back again but maybe not during the dinner rush.

Pretty good place to eat. At this time of the year there are three areas for eating: the bar area; restaurant proper; and outdoors. We (a party of three) opted for a "mid-top" table in the bar. We started with appetizers and a drink. The roasted Brussels sprouts were kind of overdone, but offset by some nicely done roasted cherry tomatoes. The crab dip was pretty good. For mains we had: fish tacos (pretty good); a "Classic burger" (very good); and a Hot Brown open faced broiled turkey and creamy cheese sandwich (excellent). The portions are large. Service was excellent, and the cost for the three of us after tax and before tip was $130. I'll be back again.
