My wife and I invited good friends to join us last night for dinner at Salt Brick Prime. The service, ambiance, food & drink, and friendly welcoming environment were all exceptional. As Branford residents, we are pleased to welcome SBP and Lockworks Tavern to Town. A great experience with a wide variety of dining options. Anthony A.

Our dinner was delicious, we had wedge salad with steak, petite filet mignon and I decided to have a T-bone steak, which was absolutely the best steak I’ve ever had! Sides were awesome as well, cocktails on point!

This restaurant is fine, but not for anyone who likes to spend money on a legit steak dinner. We heard about this place opening and wanted to give it a try because we’ve been to every decent steakhouse in CT and are big foodies. Were the dry aged steaks worth the price? Maybe… But that is beside the point. You cannot expect to live on your steaks alone. I’ll start with food: The bacon pieces, and shrimp cocktail appetizers were good. I was disappointed they didn’t have a Caesar salad. The Mac and cheese was literally cold on the top as if it was sitting out and it had zero flavor (we asked for it with pancetta +$12 which came out in a small container 5 mins after receiving the Mac and cheese.) The creamed spinach looked and tasted like it came frozen in a box. We asked for the 30 and 55 day dry aged steaks, medium rare. The 55 day was medium rare, the 30 day was ehhh, on a bit too long. The cocktails sucked. The bar was super slow. The restaurant wasn’t full and the bar wasn't packed so I don’t understand what the problem was. Service: So the waitstaff and bar staff were not on the same page the entire night. Our server did not realize that he had our table, which is why we went more than 10 minutes without one person saying anything to us. He apologized but that didn’t stop from the fact that we never got our drinks the same time as our food. Our first round was gone by the time our apps showed up. We didn’t get our second round until halfway through our entrees. The apps were still on the table when they came out with our entrees. We didn’t get a chance to have our table cleared, cleaned, or even get the bread, have our next drink, etc. It was all really bad timing… server, kitchen, bar. Nothing flowed. Our after dinner drinks didn’t arrive until dessert was finished… our waiter was apologizing to us throughout the night about the drinks and that round was on them. If you enjoy spending $300+++ on a great steak dinner, this is not the place to go.

Ambience was mediocre at best. The service was just OK. The noise level on the steakhouse side was extremely high. The prime rib was ordered medium rare and was received medium well. The meat was served sitting in a lake of barely seasoned ajou and very tough to chew. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted like they were out of a packet and the mushrooms out of a can with a very peculiar flavor. Smelled burning wood and the fire alarms activated with the fire department arriving shortly there after. Overall this steakhouse was a failure!

What a great time! From the service to the ambiance and of course the food, Saltbrick was a delight. We loved the Bacon appetizer, our steaks were amazing, the whipped potatoes and asparagus accompanied perfectly, and the cake for 2 was massive. Cocktails were also delicious. We will be back for sure.

A new venue I am sure will do well This said having been to many steakhouses did not find this place to be anything special. Sides and apps were limited . I’d rather visit a true steakhouse with the a full app menu, abundance of sides Where is the baked potato, asparagus ..almost no veggies One salad choice ..a wedge which I would never order. The side of potato was average at best ..almost tasteless and not what a premier steakhouse should offer. Bernaise sauce was not thick at all….soupy Side of mushrooms ordered never made it to the table with our meal so had to ask..took almost 20 minutes to get and showed up as we were mostly all done with our meal. Waiter should have just comped it ..we left most of it behind All 4 of us had the petite filet mignon. Was fine but goodness when they say petite ..could have eaten in two bites. Place is very loud Wish them success but at this price point I’ll travel to a Morton or Fleming type of place or NY/Boston even New Haven steakhouse steeped in tradition.

Second time here we had a good experience the first time. This time it wasn’t good. We order appetizers before they could clear our plates the dinner was served. My steak was so salty I couldn’t eat it. I asked for another one with no salt and spices and I order it medium rear it was so charged I could not eat it. Not sure I will be back any time soon. They need to work on the help.

Overall a very goof experience. They have not been open long and still need to work out kinks. Our 4some were stuffed into a corner table in the bar. It was extremely loud. We were blinded by the bright sun coming through an upper window in the main part of the restaurant and they do not have any blinds on the upper windows. We had asked to sit at a table in the main restaurant but were told they needed the 2 four top tables for a party of 8 that was coming in later.

Service at Saltbrick Prime was impeccable, with attentive and professional staff who ensured our every need was met. However, we were seated at a high-top table in the bar near a post instead of in the dining room. This was disappointing as the bar area, though lively, lacked the intimate setting we had envisioned. Additionally, the walkway behind our table was heavily trafficked by servers and bar patrons, detracting from the dining experience. The food was a mixed bag. I ordered the 6 oz Wagyu filet mignon, priced at $125, but it did not meet expectations. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't remarkable either. For such a premium price, I expected a steak that stood out in flavor and tenderness, but it was just okay. On a brighter note, the dessert was excellent, providing a delightful end to the meal. The restaurant's energy was vibrant and buzzing with excitement. It was very busy, creating a lively atmosphere. The room itself is stylish and sophisticated, with most patrons dressed well, indicating that Saltbrick Prime is a popular choice for a night out. Saltbrick Prime excels in service and ambiance, but the seating arrangement and the quality of the main course fell short of expectations. For the price, I anticipated a more exceptional culinary experience. I recommend specifying your seating preferences clearly when making a reservation to avoid the bar area if that's not your preference.
