Sakura was established in 2009 as the first Japanese restaurant in Portsmouth. Since our opening night we have always strived to bring the taste of true Japanese cuisine to our customers, while adding friendly service, knowledge and a lot of enthusiasm for what we do.

We have retained a lot of the features that made our restaurant popular in the Southsea area. These includes tasty food that comes in a great variety, and fast and reliable service. We strive to maintain our standards whilst constantly refining ourselves to meet the demands of every customer.

The food was disgusting. The sashimi and sushi was not fresh or chilled enough and the yakitori and Katsu chicken curry were warmed up slops! Food was served within minutes with no care! Don’t waste your money!

The venue is clean, friendly and the food is great. Everything was serve quickly and piping hot. Sometimes it was hard to find staff. Lovely food would recommend

We had a booking for 18:30pm but arrived early but that didn't matter as we were immediately seated which was excellent. Our drinks order was taken very quickly and arrived very quickly. We ordered our food, all at once, and within 5 minutes our first plates had started to arrive. Everything was delicious from the tuna and fish dishes to the vegetarian dishes, both cold and hot! A fantastic atmosphere with lovely interior design making it feel rustic Japanese! A wonderful experience, thank you so much!

Beautiful food in a very busy restaurant. The staff were friendly & price was OK. We will go again :-)

We had a really enjoyable experience at our first time at Sakura. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. I can recommend every we had: hand rolls, nigiri, ramen, gohan and udon noodles. The booths are super cute and make you feel private but still part of the buzzy restaurant. We ate early - 5.30pm - on a bank holiday Monday and diners were pouring in. There was one empty table when we left. Booking is a must. We'll be returning very soon.

My Go to Place for Authentic Japanesw Food in Southern part of Engalnd! Always worth a trip whenever i crave for some Beef Ramen , some tempuras and couple of sashimi and sushi
