Sago has a lot of potential. There are some big buts. Lighting is a problem! The restaurant is beautifully designed but you cannot appreciate it. The food is delicious and beautifully prepared, but, it is so dark you need a flashlight to read the menu and see what you are eating. You feel like you are eating in the jungle in the dark. Noise level is ridiculous! The music is so loud that you have to yell to be heard. Great concept, poor execution. I think if you could tone down the music to a more manageable decibel it would be bearable. And bring up the lights enough to enjoy the food and ambiance you have created you would tremendously increase the user experience.

The atmosphere, decor and vibe are amazing. The inside is stunning. The drinks were great. The food was fine. The service was very disappointing . I came for my friend’s birthday and put notes in the reservation about it. The hostess and server said nothing. We were not only not offered a dessert but not even shown a dessert menu or asked about an after dinner drink or anything. Plates were never cleared. We were not shown an itemized receipt, the sever just said “ this is your total”. This place has such potential and I would still go back for cocktail but not for dinner.

Had a really great meal. The cocktails and food were excellent. Our server, Octavio, was knowledgeable and attentive and made great recommendations from the menu. Will definitely be back.

Food was great. Service was very slow and the basics were forgotten; water, utensils, etc. it wasn’t busy enough to be forgotten but the food came out before we received water, our ordered drinks and even the utensils even though we asked multiple times. But again… the food was outstanding. Maybe next time we’ll during the week and try out weekday experience.

i was so excited to checkout this place "sago" since it is asian vibes. i invited my friends to joined me. we drove all the way from chula vista to encinitas "sago' ! we get there check in at the front door and greeter walk us in our table and we start ordering a good amount of foods. i will definitely not recommend this place if you're really hungry because the serving of food was only for people diet mode and main reason is photoshoot!' the service from our server nicolas is very good. ambience was great. also, my friends and i were very disappointed the way we got treated by the an educated bouncer named terry! since we paid a good amount of money on our bills . we deserved to get our pictures by the entrance . unfortunately my friend was blocked by terry the bouncer his hands was closer to her breast . the manager joey finally came out i still felt that he did not listen about how his bouncer treated my friend in a very disrespectful way. we all see the bouncer was chitchatting with one guy and not really paying attention to who's customers stepped out or in! this harassment action should never be condoned ! i hope the owner mr. dale and the whole management make a difference to create a safe environment to all the women who goes to sago.

We were looking forward to trying this place. Food was ok and although we ordered quite a few dishes we all left hungry. Ambience is cute and the theme is like being on a cruise ship.

It’s a vibe. If you want to see & be seen head to Sago. Food is small bites ( lobster bao buns were delish) drinks are yummy. Service was meh.
