Saffron serves an eclectic mixture of traditional Indian Cuisine punctuated by the flavors of the Himalayas. Our food stand true to its roots and origin while we source most of our produce locally. All dishes, sauces, naans and desserts are made in house from scratch. We are proud to be the first restaurant in Austin with a dedicated Nepalese menu. Nepal is a land of many flavors, while many of its dishes are indigenous and indicative of its culture and people, while few are inspired by its immediate neighbors, India and China. Our Nepalese menu is a thoughtful mix of both.

Tandoori Treasures

A tandoor is a traditional clay oven. It utilizes a combination of radiant heat, hot air cooking and smoking. Breads are slapped to the inner wall of the oven whereas marinated meats and vegetable are skewered and lowered in the center. This type of cooking imparts a distinctive flavor to the meats that can't be matched.

We love Saffron! And Bose is our favorite waiter (they are all nice, but we always look forward to seeing Bose). The food is perfection , ambience pleasant. Mushroom appetizer is a fav, and be sure to get a mango lassi!

Our family had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. We highly recommended. The price is amazing. The service is incredible. The portion sizes are abundant. Please go and do yourself a favor and get the garlic NAAN.

This place is a hidden gem. The quality of the food, the preparation and the prices are all outstanding. They could work on their beer / wine / liquor offerings but the only complaint I have is that every time I go here they have the Hindi music playing so loudly that you can’t really have a conversation without shouting. It cheapens what is otherwise an elegant, near fine-dining dinner experience.

Good food, good ambiance. The thing that has begun to bother me at a personal level is something that's now happened twice in a row; first when I visited about a month ago and again yesterday when I revisited with my younger son for dinner. Seeing several tables unoccupied we requested a table by the window. Admittedly those are tables for 4 - but the restaurant has several tables vacant. The guy there - on both occasions - tells us since it's just the two of us, he cannot seat us at a table for four. Funny thing is - on both occasions - pretty much within 2-3 minutes after us - come two other patrons and they make the same request to be seated at those tables. They automatically get seated on the table we literally just requested and were denied. When I point this out to the guy, he proceeds to tell me they probably got seated there because there were no other tables available. When I point out 3 vacant tables literally right near us - he acknowledges those but wonders why I'm complaining and not enjoying my dinner !?? Maybe I don't get it but it just didn’t feel right. The food is truly good and I want the chef to know that but the 1-star is for the service and for that feeling in the pit of my stomach that my son & I were not treated right and that it has now happened twice !

The food is terrific and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We’ve only been to Saffron a few times but it’s quickly becoming our favorite Indian restaurant in Austin.

As with the other Saffron, this has got to be some of the best Indian food in Austin! Everything was amazing! Many different kinds of fresh naan, delicious freshly made pot stickers, and two mouth watering entrees. It has a strip mall vibe so it’s very nice but not very fancy. Go when you want delicious food at a reasonable price which is hard to find in Austin!
