The menu follows a Southern-fried meat-and-three concept, meaning diners order a meat, plus three sides. Those will include Ruthie’s mac and cheese, of course, but also white-soy-braised greens, stewed chickpeas and smoked cauliflower with a spicy soy glaze. “We’re going to be changing it a lot based on seasonality,” Hill says of the menu. “ Every vegetable has got to be fantastic because it has to stand on its own.” One thing that will help that: Hill is already growing all of the restaurant’s own herbs at his South Arlington community garden plot.

The BEST food, everything is delicious. Get the oysters they’re divine. It’s always loud in there because it’s so packed, so if you have hearing issues or that’s a problem, try to ask for a table in one of the side rooms that’s a bit quieter (or outside). Overall 10/10, an elevated barbecue experience.

Ruthie’s is excellent! Although I made a reservation for outdoors (all that was available), our server and the hostess were kind enough to find a table for us inside when my friend had problems with the extreme heat. The food and service are always great at Ruthie’s. It is a fantastic place!

We thought Ruthie’s brisket on the 4th of July would be a winner and it was. The brisket sandwich was juicy and delicious. The service was good and people in the restaurant were friendly. We enjoyed the lunch.

Tim was our waiter. Very busy at lunchtime but he was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed his service. Food took a bit long but it was lunchtime and packed. Food was excellent- appetizer, entrees and dessert. Will definitely be back!
