The menu follows a Southern-fried meat-and-three concept, meaning diners order a meat, plus three sides. Those will include Ruthie’s mac and cheese, of course, but also white-soy-braised greens, stewed chickpeas and smoked cauliflower with a spicy soy glaze. “We’re going to be changing it a lot based on seasonality,” Hill says of the menu. “ Every vegetable has got to be fantastic because it has to stand on its own.” One thing that will help that: Hill is already growing all of the restaurant’s own herbs at his South Arlington community garden plot.

This place was exceptional! Wishing the best for the owner. We ordered 6 different sides with our main meal and each was so good that we wish we had more. The food and the cocktails translated the thoughtfulness that must have inspired the chef to show his love for a great meal and good gathering. Thank you! Would come back 100 times more!

The brisket melts in your mouth and the smoked wings are smoked to the bone! The desert and cappuccino are a must!

The food was excellent. For an appetizer, we had the octopus. We also enjoyed the burgers. The ambiance was comfortable, not stuffy!!!

Seating was fast, food came quickly, flavors were delightful and our waiter —Jared— was funny, friendly and very responsive to our requests (extra fennel for the salad, and the receipt quickly since our party had time constraints). We love Ruthie’s All Day - it always gives us a warm, fuzzy, and memorable feeling, and fills our tummies with delicious food!
