The menu follows a Southern-fried meat-and-three concept, meaning diners order a meat, plus three sides. Those will include Ruthie’s mac and cheese, of course, but also white-soy-braised greens, stewed chickpeas and smoked cauliflower with a spicy soy glaze. “We’re going to be changing it a lot based on seasonality,” Hill says of the menu. “ Every vegetable has got to be fantastic because it has to stand on its own.” One thing that will help that: Hill is already growing all of the restaurant’s own herbs at his South Arlington community garden plot.

Great food. Good portions for the most part. Reasonable prices. Waiting went missing for a while mid meal and we eventually got service from a different waiter. Slowed things down a bit, but the food was enjoyable.

Great brunch menu and wonderful outdoor space. When the temperatures a comfortable, the outdoor option is better than indoor as a full house indoors can make it more difficult to have a conversation due to the decibel level inside.

Great brunch spot that exceeded expectations. There aren’t a ton of upscale brunch spots in the areas and I’m pretty hard to please. Ruthie’s has just as good if not better food than all the solid rusty spoon diners around with a much better ambiance and excellent service. Highly recommend it!

This was our first visit, and won’t be our last. Our group thoroughly enjoyed our experience. the food was delicious and the service was excellent.
