Our Story The goal – to guarantee a wonderful meal with authentic cuisine and fabulous margaritas, serve over 50 artisanal and ancestral mezcals, and over 100 different types of tequila brands in a vibrant unique atmosphere that boasts excellent service. Ruta Oaxaca Mexican Cuisine opened in Astoria in 2021 with such a wonderful and successful home run that a second location opened in Patchogue in March 2022. Ruta Oaxaca means “Road to Oaxaca,” a historic state in the southern part of Mexico. Mr. Castillo and his Partners are keenly focused on honoring Oaxacan culinary traditions, whose fame is derived in great part from its many varieties of moles. By legend, these ancient recipes are more than sauces, they are the very focus of the meal. Ruta Oaxaca proudly features four moles, each prepared using the Oaxacan mole recipes that have made the cuisine world famous. We usually enjoy Ruta…but this time we took some friends…the place was pretty much empty and the service was very slow…and the food was not as good as it normally is….we were disappointed but will try it again

Food was amazing as always. The staff is so friendly and helpful, I met the owner/ chef last night and now I know why the crew is so good, he introduced himself and thanked my wife and I for coming. Best Guacamole 🥑 ever also, the 3 taco dinner is great and is so delicious and such a bargain.

Finally some great Mexican in the Syosset/Woodbury area. All the others are Fexican( Fake Mexican) this place is great food, wonderful staff and awesome drinks also.

This is my favorite Mexican/Taco place in Long Island so Far. I casually found it on Open Table and now we crave it all the time. Not Only the food is great, but also great cocktails/mocktails. Amazing service and ambiance. Its located in a quiet little mall, you can seat outside if you want a quiet meal or inside for the bar or a little energetic vibe.

Menu was great, wanted to try more than we had room for. Margarita tree was cool. Staff very friendly. Will be back.
