THE APPEAL OF DAMON RUNYON, the New York storyteller, newspaperman and sportswriter came from his mastery, but also invention, of 1920s American slang – a mixture of the ‘louche and the lugubrious’ according to the New Yorker magazine. He would go to Lindy’s, an all-night Jewish deli on Broadway that became Mindy’s in his stories, and listen.

Runyon married a down-on-her-luck Spanish countess from Madrid, 26 years his younger, who turned out to be an up-on-her-heels Mexican dancer from Tampico. When he died his ashes were taken up in a plane and sprinkled all over New York.

Familia Zuccardi Brazos Malbec, Uco Valley, Mendoza
Dark violet with blue hues with typical Malbec aromas reminiscent of ripe red and black fruits as cherries, plums and blackberries. Medium bodied, with soft tannins and balanced acidity. Fruity and spicy finish.
Drifting Chardonnay, Lodi
The Chardonnay grapes for this generously flavoured white, are grown in vineyards planted on the rich, sandy soils of Lodi, in California. Here the vines are bathed in sunshine and the grapes reach full ripeness easily. Post-fermentation the wine spends 3 months in French oak. Tropical fruit and green apple aromas are backed by toasted oak spice. The palate finishes with notes of zesty lemon.

9 of us ate on Saturday evening at 6:00pm. Not busy at all, probably 2 or 3 other tables eating. Service was slow and unfocused. During our meal we had to get up and go to the bar to ask them to bring over 2 of the drink they forgot, we had to go and get our own food sat in front of us on the hot plate after the chef had called service twice (this was a re-made meal from a mistake). I asked for Hot Sauce which never arrived and i never saw the waiter again to ask until i had finished and i said "i don't need the hot sauce any more' they then brought the sauce. Again, had to get up to find someone to get the bill. Food was actually pretty good, just the front of house failing over and over again.

We booked in as staying in the hotel, we booked for 5.30pm We was sat down efficiently. Waitress and waiter was very helpful with how the menu worked and let us know if there was anything unavailable. Drinks arrived quickly. We ordered some small plates too share, mac and cheese croquet, fish goujons and sticky ribs they where amazing. All freshly prepared. Then for mains we ordered the pork belly noodles, burger, steak and fish and chips again all incredible. Chef came out to speak to us to make sure food was all good, this was great as we was out with parents so they really liked this touch to the service. Had a chat about our evening as we was watching peter kay. Couldn't fault the service or staff and we all really enjoyed the food. We would highley recommend.

Hi, Thank you for your feedback. We usually always let know our guests about missing items just before we take any orders, If we missed that process with you Please accept my apologies and I will make sure to re-train staff on this matter. Also, I am not sure these two stars are what we deserve just for missing a few items from our menu, unfortunately, sometimes it happens in hospitality where our supplies can be short of stock and this following affects our menu. However, we were checking on you during your dining experience regarding food quality and service and you didn't mention to us any negative comments. We followed the same process during payment and as well no concern was raised to us. I hope you understand the importance of honest reviews for our business. Many Thanks

Food was pretty good, we were there for pre-theatre quick food, went for burgers and then eaton mess. My wife didn't realise her burger came with a spicy sauce, but they couldn't have been more accommodating to resolve. Eaton mess could have done with more meringue and strawberries, slightly over balanced towards cream. The wine I chose was great, and the old fashioned was good too. Service was pleasant and efficient. Would come back again. Toilets downstairs weren't working, so had to make a trek up to the 9th floor, hopefully that will be resolved quickly!

No staff to seat on arrival had to ask a bar staff employee Kitchen closed for cleaning so had to wait to order Food tasteless, the buttermilk chicken coating was damp and not crispy (had to remove as it was awful) the pickles were raw and very greasy as were the onion rings, majority of the meal was returned, had asked for no cheese but they put it on anyway ! No one else in the restaurant And just to add insult they trtied to add 20% service charge !!!! AVOID shocking from start to finish - Mothers day meal I will never forget

The waiter was lovely and friendly. The food was very tasty and good value for money with good sized portions. Will definitely go again

Overall a lovely evening. Took a while for anyone to come and take a drinks order. My husband doesn’t drink so ordered a 0% beer. He was offered three to choose from. Then the waitress came over and explained there was no 0% options available and would he like a cider? He asked if it was 0% and she said no. Very disappointing in 2024 to have no non-alcoholic drinks available other than soft drinks. Especially in January when lots of people are doing dry January. Food was great, the salt and pepper chicken starter didn’t taste like I expected but was still really nice.

Regarding your drinks order, I am sorry if there was some kind of misunderstanding as we offer Alkohol Free Beer, indeed is not exactly 0.0% but it's 0.5% which is still under UK Law labelled as Alkohol Free product.
