Two couples dining together, one ordered the half chicken, one ordered the three piece chicken dinner, the Brussel Sprouts and the potato dishes were great. However both chicken dishes were heavily battered and fried way past golden brown, chicken pieces inside the batter were extremely small, though very juicy. Overall I would go back there to eat, but would not get the fried chicken (by the way, this is primarily a chicken restaurant)

We had a great Sunday dinner at Rudy Royale to close out a bachelor weekend. The staff were very accommodating to our party of 10 and provided us a very thorough dinner service. The party had a mix of items, from the legendary chicken sandwich, classic chicken pot pie, general Rudy's chicken, and even a really nicely executed salmon entree. I would without a doubt recommend this iconic piece of the Charleston food scene to any and everyone (especially groups or a party looking for a variety of options) Our server Megan, took great care of us and we would certainly come back from Charlotte to dine with her again.

Our friendly waiter gave us advice on dishes that he found delious and we went with his recommendations. We had the Chicken Pot Pie and the Tempura Flounder. Both dishes were excellent. We shared a wedge salad which is much too large for one person. They have a wide variety of wines on their menu that are reasonably priced and quite good. This Is a charming and causal place to eat.

Usually, I don’t leave bad reviews, but me and my family were essentially ignored for over 20 minutes to the point where I had to go inside and remind the staff we were sitting there. Thereafter it took another 10 minutes for a server to help us. Then the appetizers and food came out on top of each other. We were short 1 drinking glass and it took over 15 minutes to get a glass delivered to the table. The food was “ehh”(neither here nor there). One hostess comped me for a drink, however we did not feel as though we were valued patrons. The damage was already done. I would never go back. Disappointing experience over all. There are so many great places to eat in Charleston. I am disappointed I wasted my opportunity at this place.

Caged bird (drink) was delicious, as was the heirloom tomato appetizer, swordfish, and salmon (and cauliflower with the salmon). Suggestion: if the host/hostess brings you to the back table next to the kitchen, request another table for better ambience.

Just an ok experience. It’s a very nice place for sure! Went for brunch, service was not terrible but could have definitely been better as it was not that busy. Food came out quickly but again was just ok. I will say that the Royale bloody Mary was 10/10! glad we tried it, but will not be rushing back.

The food and service were excellent. Everyone in our party of four was happy with their meal. The wait staff and hostess were friendly and attentive. The only unpleasant part of the experience was the aroma. It was a bit musty and stale. Although the place seemed clean, including the ladies room, it didn't smell appetizing.

Fried pickles were awesome! How can they be bad, haha! The tuna ceviche was so-so. Not really ceviche. It was raw tuna on a sauce. Not many veggies. It was more of a tartar. We sat outside so not fair to judge the noise level. Great weather and our server was lovely.
