Overall, our experience at Rubyos on a Friday night was positive. Our allocated server (Vanessa) was fantastic - friendly, attentive and professional. One thing that negatively impacted our experience was the confrontational attitude from the manager (?) who clearly articulated his annoyance that our party was 2 people short of the initial booking. We had 2 last-minute cancellations from our group and did not have an opportunity to notify the restaurant due to a very busy engagement scheduled prior to the dinner. We were reprimanded by the gentleman in front of our guests in a very angry manner. Our dinner was part of a welcome reception of international VIP guests. The manager's approach to the situation was extremely unprofessional, inhospitable and lacked discretion. The interaction added a sour note very early on to an otherwise pleasant evening and quite frankly, it was embarrassing.

This was my 4th time visiting for a special occasion dinner, the food and service were good however one thing did ruin the evening for me. I’m disabled and went to use the accessible bathroom to find that the restaurant was using it to store excess chairs and other items. This meant that the bathroom was no longer accessible and could not be used appropriately by myself or any wheelchair users. For the amount we were paying I was kind of expecting to have access to a bathroom. Completly inappropriate to store anything in a disabled / accessible bathroom and really disappointed.

The food was amazing and beautifully presented!!!!. Great service, wonderful ambiance and quiet. The tables were not close together. The building has high ceilings and quite grand. Nice getting away from the bustle of Newtown where you can’t hear the traffic outside. A wonderful place for special occasions!! We had the best night. !!

My wife and I came to the restaurant with 5 friends. We had arranged for pre show dinner that included a glass of wine. We only had an hour for dinner before the show. The first course was served within 5 minutes of arrival. All 5 courses were delicious. The seven of us are real foodies. We could not stop talking about how tasty every dish was. They looked small but be the end of the meal we were all comfortably full. The house wine went well with the meal. The restaurant was fairly quiet which made conversation comfortable and the staff were very good. The best part was when bill came. Dinner with wine was only $50. Exceptional meal and exceptional value.

We ate a la carte, though the set banquets look really interesting. It's not cheap, but the mix of flavours is creative and very well-chosen; the dishes are really tasty and we enjoyed the variety.
