We came to Roy's as a rare date-night while on holiday and pseudo-celebration of our anniversary later in September. We had been to, and deeply loved, Anju many times before and were overjoyed to hear that Roy's was continuing to carry the torch. We sat at the bar on a Tuesday night at their 4th street location, our favourite place to sit in any restaurant for the front-row seat to the magic. Aside from the foot-high barricade (which was helpful as we propped the menu against it), we did get to see and smell the fired orders first-hand. The BBQ set-up particularly wafted some incredible scents our way. But the food was why we were there -- and for lovers of Anju, we were not disappointed. The brussels sprouts, brilliant; the fire chicken indeed fiery; the tofu and kimchi were wonderful; the KFC sliders worth returning for; but the Oxtail tortellini were undoubtedly the highlight: I would be lying if I said I didn't occasionally dream about them. We finished with the rice krispies dessert which, in turn, rounded the evening brilliantly on a complex sweet note. The staff were attentive without hovering, the space was clean and lively, but the food alone is worth the visit. Roy knows his food, and his team, clearly devoted to his vision, provide such an enjoyable experience for the diner -- worth flying across the ocean for.

I have eaten here various times and it’s one of our favourite places. Every bite is delicious from the oxtail tortellini to the crispy tofu to the brussels sprouts, this place is amazing. It’s best experience it with four people so you can order a ton of dishes. The cocktails are great and even the wine selection is pretty good, some interesting ones for sure! The service is always very professional and the food pace is nice. I hate it when everything comes so quick but this place does not do that. If you order a bunch of dishes, they know how to bring out a couple at a time that complement each other. it never seems like they are in a rush to get you out.

Going to Roy’s is one of the best experiences that we have in Calgary. The food is wonderful. The service is incredible and Roy is such a warm and charming restauranteur.

Disappointing experience. I had heard great things about the cocktails and food, and although the food was really well done the cocktails were subpar. They tasted watered down and poorly made, so I would stick to beers or wine that you know will be good. We were 1 of 3 tables over the course of 2 hours and the service was incredibly slow for the lack of people dining. They were also BLASTING awful top 40 music from the mid 2000s, it was ruining the mood enough that we contemplated leaving after we had ordered drinks. Debatable if we will go back. Perhaps just order take out for the food.

Tried out the new happy hour, great food, tasty cocktails and nice service. Wasn’t busy on a Sunday, but food was great. Def worth the visit.

This is our 3rd time going to Roy's for the Billie's Smash Burgers. Still our favourite smash burgers in the city! Cooked to a crisp on the flat top with zingy house sauce and a cheese skirt (or not). Today we had a side of chili sauce to go with our fries..delicious, but we like the cheese sauce even more. Service is always fantastic!

We were thrilled that we could eat at the Billie’s pop up! Hubby was super excited for the crispy cheese skirt, and I just love burgers! Well, Billie’s didn’t disappoint! The burgers were massive (get 2 patties…it’s better balanced with the bun/toppings that way). The patties were smashed flatter than we had ever seen and seared to a well done…as they should be! The buns were soft and fluffy, and the toppings fresh. We also got crumb coated onion rings and fries with cheese sauce on the side…yum!! One of the best smash burgers we’ve had!

Friendly service. Small menu, but delicious food. We love their fried chicken sliders. Great cocktails too.

We found for The price of The food the portions were Extremely small. Tasty but small.

Hi there, we are sorry if portions were not up to your standards, should you like to give us another chance please email info@hwatu.ca or check out our lunch location in The District Food Hall were they have a more lunch and single person serving style. Menu is now more compact. Appetizer share items make for a nice meal on their own. We found the waitstaff guidance was excellent.
