Le Roy's Ka'anapali vous souhaite la bienvenue ! Depuis l'ouverture du Roy's Hawaii Kai « original » en 1988, le chef s'est mis à explorer de « nouvelles directions », en alliant les techniques classiques de la cuisine européenne aux influences uniques de l'Asie et du Pacifique. We sat near the kitchen even though I asked to move to open tables that were available. Food was not hot, and overly salted. Staff was ok. Food took a long time to arrive. We go to this Roy’s every time when in Kaanapali, but not a great experience this time.

The food at Roy’s was outstanding as usual. Nicely presented, generous portions, good value for the cost. (Seems like every good dinner restaurant on Maui charges at least $25 for a hamburger and quickly goes up from there. In that context, Roy’s, while pricey, is actually a pretty good value.) However the ambience leaves a lot to be desired. At a restaurant that is easily $100 plus per person for a meal, they had no regular cream or milk milk for the coffee and served the tiny plastic manufactured containers of half-and-half instead. The waitstaff was friendly, but unsophisticated and not well trained. The restaurant’s decorating is straight out of the 1970s. They knew we were celebrating a birthday, but no acknowledgment, which is not a deal breaker, but the overall experience was a let-down. I would not return for a special dinner, but if you are going for the food and not the experience, it’s fine. PS. Limited wine list but the “Roy’s Reserve” wine turned out to be good!

We’ve been to Roy’s several times. This time was disappointing. My husbands’ ribs were way too salty. My macadamia encrusted Ono was quite dry. The atmosphere was meh. But the wait staff was quite cheerful. I’m going to chalk it up to a bad night, sick chef, or perhaps it’s just the Kaanapali location. I want to believe in Roy’s so this is only one strike.

THIS IS NOT THE ROY’S YOU ARE THINKING OF. Apparently some locations split off and are independently operated? This one is crap. Food was subpar, prices still high, and the location is a converted golf club?? AVOID.

We had a great time and our server was very attentive and kind. Only hiccup was my wife’s dinner was cold. But the server and team immediately rectified it, she loved her dinner, and we continued on with a great evening!

The food was great; our waitress wasn’t the best for such a high end restaurant. Had to ask for water several times and my friend asked for a specific vodka and she was supposed to check withe the bartender to see if they had it in stock, but she never got back to us.

Having been to Roy’s in other destinations, this location did not meet expectations. The service was meh but the food lacked flavor. We’ve had amazing meals from Roy’s and heard this location wasn’t favorable but we decided to make our own opinion. Turns out, the advice we were given was correct. Best part of the meal was the appetizer(blackened island ahi). Was looking forward to their signature cocktail (Hawaiian Martini) which was listed online, but apparently can’t be served in Maui. Entrees chosen were the misoyaki butterfish and the grilled au & shrimp duo. The cook on the fish was done nicely but the flavor of the dishes left you desiring more. Very bland compared to our experiences from other Roy’s locations. We’ve had amazing experiences at Roy’s but this location was not it. We tried it, will go elsewhere when we are back.

Food was excellent, but the main course was not hot. Only the plates were hot, the food not. The service was regular.

The renovation was stale and restaurant was very bright. The tuna appetizer was great as always but entrees were not great. Menus printed on paper and just seemed like a restaurant opening for the first time. We have eaten at Roy’s probably 100 times over the past 20 years and this was our first mediocre experience.
