Welcome to Roxanne—a brilliant, wild, revolutionary project by chef Alexandra Holt, sparked behind a purple door in South Philly two years ago. Named after her mother, Roxanne is a true labor of love. The vibe is cozy, open, and personal: with an open kitchen, you’re right in the action, catching Alexandra plating each dish and pouring her journey into every detail.

Tables are handcrafted by Alexandra and her mom, the entire space designed with their hands. Roxanne’s menu brings ‘American Expressionism’ to the plate, inspired by Alexandra’s life across 30 countries. Expect fearless flavors—seafood, a burger, caviar, organ meats; there’s nothing off-limits.

Whether you’re here for the tasting menu at reserved tables, exploring the à la carte board, or diving into the bar snacks with a drink, Roxanne is all about big, unapologetic vibes and dishes crafted with passion.

Having been to the previous Roxanne 3 times, I had high hopes for the new incarnation and was not disappointed. A la carte dining for chef Alex's food feels like a cheat code, this is nearly a perfect restaurant already - burger was crazy, dip homemade tater tots in panna cotta like the dankest version of dipping your fries in the frosty ever conceived. Service was great, space is so so nice and BIG compared to the former space. My only ding is that the wine list is only PA wines? Im not sure if thats a philosophical thing or a legal thing but if this place had a beverage program as good as its food program it would be a 20/10. Regardless, I will be back many times

We had an amazing time! Our server was awesome, food was delicious. Great wine recommendation on the Gruner!

Website not very clear on menu offerings. Very small and limited menu upon arriving which did not match online menu. Sould either have tasting menu or reglar menu to offer, This can be confusing. Menu descriptions don't really match food delivered. Music too loud. Very smokey, clothes and hair smelled after leaving. Glass of wine extrmeley small and wine glass is too lightweight which caused me to tip over and spill what little contents that I had. Was not offered a new glass @ $20 a glass mind you. Definitely not the experience that we had the first time. Consistency is key. Grandios dessert that we were hoping for was not available due to ice cream machine issues. We had been waiting all month for this experience and we were very dissapointed.

What an amazing restaurant! Such innovative dishes with elements that don’t seem like they’d go but that work so perfectly together. I’ll be back as often as I can. It’s a very special place.

Always a pleasure to return to Roxanne! Fun, delicious, creative dining experience with a side of adventure! How does Chef Alex compose dishes with certain ingredients and flavor profiles that all taste delicious when put together? I still think about her dishes days later. If you are looking for a unique culinary experience with thought provoking dishes, you must try Roxanne! You will not be disappointed! Thank you Chef and the Roxanne team. I’ll be back again.

INCREDIBLE !! Everything was perfect. Each course was so fun, adventurous, and new. It is such a special meal and no other restaurant could replicate this!

A nice experience that I’m glad I did once. It was a soft opening and it was a solid 3 stars. I wish the music wasn’t playing so loudly with the word f*%@ in it while I was trying to enjoy this meal which had obviously been prepared with such care and love. I’m a music person but their choice in music and the volume of it ruined the experience for us. As each meal came out, we were just trying to finish so that we could leave.

While the original spot was already exceptional, this new chapter elevates the experience in every way. The tasting menu strikes the perfect balance of honoring beloved classics while introducing bold new favorites. Longtime fans will be thrilled to see signature dishes like the scallop and duck make a triumphant return, each as flawless as ever. But the new additions are equally dazzling—particularly the rigatoni, octopus, and scallop, each a masterclass in flavor and technique. And then there’s the cheeseburger. Magical doesn’t even begin to cover it. Imagine all your expectations of a burger, then multiply them by ten. The genius behind it all is Chef Alex - an original in every sense.
