Located in the historic Fulton Market district of Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, Rose Mary is Chef/Owner Joe Flamm’s debut restaurant inspired by his Italian heritage and the bold, bright flavors of Croatian cuisine. The boisterous space—named for Flamm’s grandmothers, Mary and Mary Rose, and the herb rosemary, which grows natively along the Italian and Croatian coastlines—offers a seasonal menu of rustic yet refined dishes that encapsulate what Flamm has coined “Adriatic drinking food”.

I first visited Rosemary in 2021 and really enjoyed it. However, I went back last night and it was not as I remembered. They reconfigured the layout to add more tables so it’s very crammed and much louder than before. The food was fine but the portions were very small, especially on the appetizers, and so the value just wasn’t there. Don’t plan on going back any time soon.

As always, the food was phenomenal and we had great service. Had several dishes. Chef Flamm makes the best Cacio e Pepe.

The fig prosciutto appetizer was the best thing we ordered. Everything else was good but too salty. I like salty food but the cacio e pepe and squid risotto were very very salty

I have never had a bad dish at Rose Mary. Each trip, I discover something new and exciting. The gnocchi are phenomenal.

Beautiful space and good food. They gave our table to another guest and did nothing to correct their mistake. So we just waited 20 mins after our reservation time.

The food was good but we noted we were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and we didn’t even get a congratulations let alone a dessert or anything remotely special. Very disappointing.
