Located in the historic Fulton Market district of Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, Rose Mary is Chef/Owner Joe Flamm’s debut restaurant inspired by his Italian heritage and the bold, bright flavors of Croatian cuisine. The boisterous space—named for Flamm’s grandmothers, Mary and Mary Rose, and the herb rosemary, which grows natively along the Italian and Croatian coastlines—offers a seasonal menu of rustic yet refined dishes that encapsulate what Flamm has coined “Adriatic drinking food”.

The lively, industrial-chic space is full of lush hanging plants, azure-colored tiles, and red clay accents that complete the coastal Adriatic vibe.

We ordered five dishes and were not impressed. Pesto was flavorless, seasonings were heavily salted and overpowered the primary dishes. The pasta had very rich, heavy creams. Overall, thought the quality of the food was poor.

The tuna crudo and the skradin risotto were amazing and full of flavor. Our table was right by the open windows to enjoy a beautiful Chicago fall night and our server Ryan made the experience wonderful.

It was really great but they lost our reservation and the kitchen was swamped BUT everyone was so kind. The food was amazing! I got to see the chef from the window! That was v cool

Incredible food. One of the best meals I’ve had this year. The restaurant uses a QR code for their extensive menu, which is frustrating and hard to navigate. Overall, I would definitely come back.

Rose Mary is consistently one of the best restaurants. The food is always seasoned and well balanced, the cocktail and wine program is accessible and delicious, and the serving staff is helpful, kind and an incredible addition. Thank you, team, for an incredible meal. I’ll be back!
