Situé à seulement quelques pâtés de maisons du quartier animé de Union Square à Manhattan, le Rosa Mexicano est le 3ème restaurant de ce nom à New York. Il propose un cadre chaleureux et vivant et une cuisine mexicaine primée authentique. Conçu par David Rockwell, il présente des éléments architecturaux inspirés par le célèbre et regretté architecte mexicain Luis Barragan. Les murs bleu électrique avec lumière intégrée représentent des plongeurs et des bougies au milieu d'une cascade d'eau pour séparer le bar de la salle à manger principale. Le restaurant arbore de la terre cuite chaleureuse et des couleurs jaunes associées à des touches de rose foncé. Il est également décoré d'artisanat mexicain exceptionnel, d'étoffes et d’œuvres d'art. Ces associations créent le décor idéal pour l'atmosphère festive et la cuisine mexicaine innovante proposées par le Rosa Mexicano.

1) While a well regarded brand and franchise, the sheer size of this place means there are just not enough staff meaning long waits. 2) The food 10 years ago was wonderful. Now unfortunately, it is a shadow of its former self as the restraunt is super busy and always catching up to the pace. 3) The fish tacos, table side guacamole and civichi was reflective of a restraunt just trying to get orders out the door. They were not enjoyable and I was so looking forward to the food...

We arrived 10 minutes early and were put to the side to wait, but where we were directed it was behind someone else’s table so we were made to feel intrusive. We were told our table is being cleaned, once we get to it, it was cleaned…but left wet for us as well. We were given a bottle of lukewarm water, with no cups. After 5 minutes we were given water, I asked for ice and was looked at as if I was insane, the air conditioning was nearly non existent on a 91 degree day. We ordered immediately after the waiter came because the wait was so long for everything. I ordered a margarita which arrived with my food, it took the same time as making roasted chicken. No one ever came back to check on us until we were just about done. At that point I ordered another drink and asked for the check at the same time because the turnaround was clearly poor. The check of course arrived and was charged within 2 minutes, still waited 10 more minutes for the drink I’d already paid for. The quickest thing was the check during the whole experience. I expect delays but in the Lincoln Center site, it’s busy but I don’t trade in quality and service for it. At this location; it was a trade off, one I don’t care to make again.

The service was quietly efficient, the food was great, but IT WAS TOO HOT. A/C was not doing the job and we couldn’t wait to get out of there!

It pains me to write a negative review. The food and drinks were very good (as usual). But the last 3 times I've been to this restaurant, there has been virtually no air conditioning. It is just too hot. The hostess was very nice, but she was overwhelmed. There seemed to not be enough servers. We waited for everything at our table. The waiter was lovely, doing his best, but still the actual service was not good. I have been going to Rosa Mexicano for years. It is a go-to place for me to bring out-of-towners. But I don' t think I will go again.

Waiter was not easily accessible. Water was not served until maybe 30min after we were sat and only had chips and salsa. We sat there thirsty with no water. Was not able to order more items due to the long wait time and challenge getting our waiter. Food was great and very busy location. However, waiter could have been much more attentive.

Service was very poor and slow. Food was not good, and served so staggered that some were done eating before others received their food. Not provided water until we requested 3 times and eventually went to the bar (that was after food came). Items missing, food quality was low.

It's good but it has slightly declined in overall performance of the past 5 years. The premium cocktail was oversaturated with sour mix, the premade Pomegranate Margherita is still a hit. There were not enough waiters/waitresses on the floor so there were delays in being attended to....this sits with management not the personnel. The food portions were definitely sized down. (Previous Tres Enchiladas doesn't exist only a duo). The guac is still incredibly excellent. It's really good but it used to be great (order yours spicy for a kick).

The guacamole and chips made table side are the highlight for me. I had the cheese and shrimp quesadilla which was very bland. I go back just for the guacamole.
