Situé à seulement quelques pâtés de maisons du quartier animé de Union Square à Manhattan, le Rosa Mexicano est le 3ème restaurant de ce nom à New York. Il propose un cadre chaleureux et vivant et une cuisine mexicaine primée authentique. Conçu par David Rockwell, il présente des éléments architecturaux inspirés par le célèbre et regretté architecte mexicain Luis Barragan. Les murs bleu électrique avec lumière intégrée représentent des plongeurs et des bougies au milieu d'une cascade d'eau pour séparer le bar de la salle à manger principale. Le restaurant arbore de la terre cuite chaleureuse et des couleurs jaunes associées à des touches de rose foncé. Il est également décoré d'artisanat mexicain exceptionnel, d'étoffes et d’œuvres d'art. Ces associations créent le décor idéal pour l'atmosphère festive et la cuisine mexicaine innovante proposées par le Rosa Mexicano.

When I go to a Mexican restaurant I expect to get an authentic Mexican dinner & not some Americanized version of Mexican rice and beans. Not what I was expecting and definitely won’t be returning.

Always have a great time at Rosa Mexicano Union Square. Been going here for over a decade! Sam the Manager is fantastic and our server Matthew was wonderful. Great ambience, great food, amazing cocktails = always a good time at Rosa!

Sadly not nearly as good as it used to be and we definitely will not be going back. Service was mediocre at best… For example, a cup of black coffee inexplicably took 45 minutes to come to the table. Guac was good, but an awful value at $30 for a large size! Brisket enchiladas were COLD. Fun vibe and good for large groups who are there for fun and don't really care much about the food.

Our waiter was great but it was slow for a Friday night. Restaurant week had little options to choose from. Overall music was to low and no Spanish music for a Spanish spot

Went there on a Sunday day night when it was not that busy in a group of 8. This was by far the worst service I have experienced among the many times I have been there. After the main course arrived, We asked for empty plates for sharing and the server did not get them even after we asked 3 separate times. Finally had to walk up to the area where they had plates stored and get them myself as food was getting cold. When the desserts came we asked for spoons and plates and again the server never bothered to get them even after telling us that he is getting them. Ended up complaining to the manager and he apologized and immediately got us plates and silverware and also comped the dessert which was nice. But overall experience was still tainted

You get a very solid and tasty meal at this restaurant. Pleasant, festive atmosphere and good for groups. The food is not particularly inventive but everything is very good. Prices are very fair.
