Situé à seulement quelques pâtés de maisons du quartier animé de Union Square à Manhattan, le Rosa Mexicano est le 3ème restaurant de ce nom à New York. Il propose un cadre chaleureux et vivant et une cuisine mexicaine primée authentique. Conçu par David Rockwell, il présente des éléments architecturaux inspirés par le célèbre et regretté architecte mexicain Luis Barragan. Les murs bleu électrique avec lumière intégrée représentent des plongeurs et des bougies au milieu d'une cascade d'eau pour séparer le bar de la salle à manger principale. Le restaurant arbore de la terre cuite chaleureuse et des couleurs jaunes associées à des touches de rose foncé. Il est également décoré d'artisanat mexicain exceptionnel, d'étoffes et d’œuvres d'art. Ces associations créent le décor idéal pour l'atmosphère festive et la cuisine mexicaine innovante proposées par le Rosa Mexicano.

Guacamole is as good as ever. Love the warm chips. Other food was okay, with the exception of the soup - the salt level was insane. Staff alternated from super helpful to just not there. All in all, can be a reasonable place to eat. Just not exceptional.

Had a horrible experience with a manager there who insisted on telling me there was nowhere to sit (with a reservation) except in the air of the door with a 2 year old. He’s full of theatrics in explanation like he was doing something helpful - “it’s better over here away from the crowds for a baby”, “I have a room full of ppl drinking tequila so it’s safer over here”, “I have kids too so I understand”, and “I’m literally on bended knee here- do you want me to buy you some food?” Never in my life have I had someone make such poor justifications while not answering the crux of the question- why, even with a reservation can I not wait for a table so my baby can not be in the draft of the door. It’s frigid outside and it’s flu and RSV season? His mentioning he has kids only added to the ignorance of the scenario. He also continued to mention “It’s Saturday night and I have a ton of people waiting for tables”. To which I responded- do they all have reservations and he said “not all”. So why in the hell would I care about people who have walked in to be seated? You’re prioritizing them over a reservation that you have not adequately seated? Only after I hammered on why we could not wait for a table did he fall silent and walk off to find something. He moved us to another table and we haven’t gotten an apology yet. I thanked him because I was raised appropriately. He met the thank you with silence. I didn’t need to thank you as you didn’t do me any favors. I did because I have class. This was common sense. Let me also point out that after being seated in the main dining room what do I see two tables over? Not just a baby, but a baby in an entire freaking stroller. Remember when he mentioned that it wasn’t good to have a baby in the dining room with all the tequila? Absurdity. My toddler walked to the table himself, yet there’s a whole stroller and a toddler at the same table I believe. Another manager named Sam spoke to us later and seemed nice but Shawn is horrible.

The food was phenomenal - service was unfortunately very poor. Ambiance is great & the meals were tasty.

Probably the worst service I have ever had. Server unfortunately probably wasn’t trained properly or just doesn’t like customer service. We went in for appetizers and drinks. The sever repeatedly stated “ you are only eating appetizers?” They weren’t not aware of their top shelf tequila. We decided to sit in the bar area for this reason. Our food came out well before our drinks and when one of our appetizers came out wrong we were questioned by our server why we sent it back. Went in for a few drinks and left only having one. Very sad experience. For the price.

Margaritas on the rocks are so watered down and served in the smallest glasses. Won’t ever be ordering those again. And the cost…astronomical. Lesson learned.

I chose Rosa Mexicano for my birthday dinner and it was definitely the right choice — the staff was incredible, the food was amazing, and everyone had a great time. If you decide to have a group reservation here you’re in good hands!! Extremely welcoming atmosphere and attentive, kind staff members.
