We (16 family members visiting from 4-6 times per year)) have been dining at Ron of Japan since the late 1970’s. Over the years we’ve noticed some changes unfortunately for the worse. Removing bean sprouts from the Crown diners being one. Our most recent visit on August 24, 2024 was a visit that really set us back. 3 of us dined at a table. The serving size of vegetables was about half the amount we usually receive. The once loved “Egg sauce” was not the same color or texture or flavor. The shrimp appeared smaller too! All of this with pricing going up but food/quality going down. Such a sad/demise to a once lovely restaurant. The gentleman who dined with us agreed with our assessment as he also was a long time diner. We will try one more time and if we don’t see an improvement we’ll sadly NOT be returning.

I wish there was more of a show, like there used to be. Now it’s just a really big fire and then cooking; and not much interaction. The prices are very high. Good food, solid, but the price tag has grown considerably.

Unfortunately it’s just like it was a couple decades ago, literally! But not in a good way. Zero money has been invested in the business and it felt rather gross. The first thing I noticed was the stench from the empty ponds and decaying foliage by the doors. The women’s bathroom was atrocious. The hibachi chef didn’t put on any type of a show except for lighting the ring of veggies ablaze. Such a bummer for my child and the two in the other party at our table. The food was fine but not excellent to warrant the price… especially since the ambiance was of a tired old restaurant with no pride of the Japanese culture of cleanliness. The decor is still cool but I think they need to close for a week or two and have every employee work to clean, revamp, revive and (re)build a sense of pride in that unique establishment. Until I hear of a renewed, revived Ron of Japan, I don’t think we will ever return, Sadly.

The waitress was very patient with our table due to language barriers with the other party that was seated with us. It was quite the table with the others speaking German, Russian, Ukrainian while we were conversing with the chef in Spanish/English. The meal was delicious and expertly prepared. A wonderful experience!

I have been coming to this restaurant for decades. Tables were always set for max of 8 people in the past. In the last few years, they have pushed it to tables for 9. We had a group of 6. Hostess decided to put additional 3 people at the table. Sitting with people you do not know and bumping elbows and not having room for the dishes in front of you is not pleasant. SIL spilled her drink on the grill top due to lack of space. This caused water to spurt up on others sitting at the table. I dropped $450 for this unpleasant experience. Over half of the tables were open in the restaurant so there was no need to cram in patrons like sardines.
