About ROKA

The name ROKA carries great meaning - ROKA is a meeting place where food and drinks are shared with friends (ro) and heat, warmth and an all-embracing energy surround (ka). The principle cuisine is from the robata grill, which originates from the fishermen of the northern coastal waters off japan, who would cook the fish on the boats with different charcoals and share the bounty with one another using their oars.

ROKA charlotte street opened in 2004, ROKA canary wharf in 2009, ROKA mayfair in february 2014 and ROKA aldwych in october 2014.

    Service has lots of room for improvement, dinner felt rushed. Quality of the food was ok but the whole experience lacked the Roka flair from a few years ago.

    Food overall was “ok” nothing spectacular compared to Amazonica…or Novikov. My father’s tea had white bits floating around… The “fresh ginger tea” was a tea bag…..even though they said yes it’s fresh tea. Won’t return in any hurry.

    We are regulars at Roka’s all over London. Our visit to Mayfair today, the worst service we have ever had at one of their restaurants - our server forgot our wine order, a starter order, and she also did the same for the table next to us who also said the service was bad ‘even though it’s really quiet’. We paid our £200 bill, two people including service - we paid the service because the kitchen staff should not be impacted by the bad service of their colleagues front of house. Hoping this is a one off experience on a bad day for Roka Mayfair.

    Service was not up to the standard expected. A number of dishes came out incorrectly (they served us beef when we don’t eat it). The waiter blamed us for their mistakes and their attitude was disappointing.
