We chose the prix fixe menu for New Year’s Eve at Roka Akor, and while the food was exceptional, the service left much to be desired. To start with the positives – every course was beautifully prepared and delicious. We decided to upgrade to the Kobe Wagyu for the fourth course, and it was absolutely worth it. The quality and flavor were outstanding, and we’re glad we made that choice. However, our overall experience was hampered by inattentive service. Our waitress seemed disengaged throughout the evening. She didn’t ask if we wanted refills, never checked in to see how the food was, and didn’t engage with us at all beyond briefly dropping off dishes. For a prix fixe experience, where each course should feel intentional and special, this lack of attention was disappointing. Additionally, when we inquired about the Wagyu upgrade, it wasn’t made clear that opting for it meant we would forgo the filet that was part of the standard prix fixe. When we asked a runner, they initially thought both would be included. It wasn’t until we sought clarification from the manager – who in turn had to consult with the waitress – that we received incorrect information. This lack of clarity felt like a missed opportunity to provide a more seamless experience. It felt as though since we opted for the prix fixe, the waitress put the experience on autopilot. On the other hand, we had great interactions with a lovely woman running food to our table and the bus staff, who were attentive in keeping our plates and silverware refreshed. For a $500+ dining experience for two people, we expected service that matched the caliber of the food. Unfortunately, the inattentive service from our waitress detracted from what should have been a special evening. We would have loved to have Lee as our server, he would have easily had made this experience 5 stars and a great night to remember.

Beyond the food being meticulously prepared and exceptional, the service is snappy, attentive and like a concert in motion. So this location is one of the best run restaurants I've had the pleasure to witness. Food was a delicate balance of flavors and you could taste the freshness of every ingredient. Choices were amazing for those afraid to venture into sushi/sashimi. The open atmosphere and wine room are classy and fresh not too stuffy. Chic and yet demure. Your wine suggestions were on the money. The Sancerre amazing. Respect the honest and fair pricing, and your pairing selection were spot on. Rich Baka hats off to you and your team.you made our anniversary amazing.

Had an amazing Christmas Eve dinner. The staff was amazing & the food was delicious. It was our first time but we will be back!

We first went to the one in old orchard and decided to try the oak brook location too! we definitely prefer this one better and will come back again!
