Rocky Bottoms started out as an 1800s brick kiln with a purpose to fire bricks. Eventually the brick kiln was unable to compete with larger competitors and closed down after WW2. Since this time the brick kiln has offered itself as agricultural storage until it collapsed and stood derelict.

In 2008 the brick kiln’s potential and need of restoration was spotted by local fishing family; The Matthews. After years of love and attention, Rocky Bottoms, as we know it today was born. Our doors opened in May 2015, just in time for the start of the crab season. We deliver local shellfish from pot to plate in a laid back environment. Rocky Bottoms believes in enjoying the simpler things in life!

We had waited over a year to get the time to visit rocky bottoms, we travelled to visit and booked ahead. we were very pleased with the whole visit, lovely fun and current space, superb staff who interacted with our young child which was great and helps. Ambience and music was great, music dated which we love and suited the whole atmosphere theyre going for. However - would we return , No. One reason - over priced menu and 13% service charge added on bill regardless, which makes for a very awkward leaving process when you ask the server to remove it from your bill. You shouldn't put customers in that situation, if they want to "Tip" then they will. Charging £60 for a small platter that is no more than £30s worth in food is very cheeky and a big let down. I mean the Lobsters used in this platter are tiny!! Not top quality large lobsters at all, what's more they remove all the claws so all you get is a tiny piece of tail meat - not good. The fish is clearly stored not fresh to plate, the lobster is tough and rubbery not cooked fresh to order as it should be given their prices, the mackerel is hard and cold as again fridge stored, the crabs are more brown meat than white and contained alot of shell which I hate and I left the whole crab after picking out shell three times. It took no more than 2/3 minutes from ordering our food to it being infront of us, this is strange almost like the platters are pre-made up and stored. And the salad tasted like mud!! It was disgusting and we both left it entirely. I mean we all need to make a profit but this is excessive at its best. So to summarise, absolutely fabulous place, surroundings, staff, atmosphere etc etc .... but they let themselves down on being greedy with their prices and the quality youd expect just isnt there. Such a shame as we visit some of the best quality restaurants around the UK, and if it weren't for severe over pricing and more effort from the chef this would be one of them.

Beautiful food- we had garlic lobster, crab and salad sharing platter and it was amazing- delicious food, great service and would definitely go again

A very enjoyable lunch at Rocky Bottoms, food and service were great. Friendly staff and very good menu choice including specials. Highly recommended and we will be returning. lovely coast views as well. We sat in the 'Glass Box' which was a nice setting.

Really lovely place on the coast of Norfolk that is clearly all about service and food. Staff were amazing, friendly, attentive and happy to help. The food was great, very tasty, well presented and lots of choice. It was quite expensive for what we had, platter for two (salad, chips, whole lobster, smallish crab) at £75.

Lovely food. Friendly staff. Bench seat was a little uncomfortable. But overall really good our meal.

The only issue for us was that because there were no avocados my wife could not chose the avocado and crab option. What she really wanted was a crab starter but this did not appear to be available because there was no avocado. What would have been good is to offer a crab starter with an alternative for the avocado.

Another excellent meal at Rocky Bottoms. A real gem of a restaurant, so glad my sister in law introduced us to it.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Rocky Bottom. The service was excellent with helpful pleasant efficient staff. Food especially the lobster was delicious and our bottle of champagne completed the occasion. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will make a return visit when possible. Many thanks to all the team.
