Rocky Bottoms started out as an 1800s brick kiln with a purpose to fire bricks. Eventually the brick kiln was unable to compete with larger competitors and closed down after WW2. Since this time the brick kiln has offered itself as agricultural storage until it collapsed and stood derelict.

In 2008 the brick kiln’s potential and need of restoration was spotted by local fishing family; The Matthews. After years of love and attention, Rocky Bottoms, as we know it today was born. Our doors opened in May 2015, just in time for the start of the crab season. We deliver local shellfish from pot to plate in a laid back environment. Rocky Bottoms believes in enjoying the simpler things in life!

    Rocked our socks off! What an amazing experience from the welcome to the farewell. Ambiance and space was great. Choice in the menu was awesome. Great choice of specials along with their lunch menu. We shared the salt & pepper squid then followed that with the warm half lobster, 1 Thai style and 1 garlic. They were mouth-wateringly good. Presentation was great. We finished with a lemon posset and a crème brule, again both amazing. Service was fantastic. I really can’t recommend this place enough. Awesome isn’t worthy of our experience.

    Best seafood restaurant in Norfolk, there is nothing that we do not like about this fantastic place. All the staff are fabulous, polite, and accomodating.

    Lovely food as always, I had mackerel pate and grilled haddock all so flavoursome and cooked to perfection. Good selection of wine and beers and such friendly staff. Well done again Rocky Bottoms we love you.

    Rocky bottoms was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The service was very relaxed and friendly and the food was amazing, the freshest seafood served in a simple fashion. We had oysters to start followed by lobster thermidor, crab salad, crab & lobster tart and fish cakes and I can highly recommend all of them. We visited the crab shack as we were leaving to buy more crab for the following day as it was so good. We had a great chat with Richard, the fisherman and owner as we left. We will definitely be back as will our parents who were visiting and joined us for lunch

    It was lovely as usual, I do feel it is expensive and I would prefer to being able to leave a tip of my choosing rather than being told it could be varied, one doesn’t want to appear to be mean!

    Our second visit and I was so looking forward to returning. It didn’t disappoint! Staff are so friendly and accommodating and the food is fantastic. Recommend a walk along the coastal path to build you appetite!

    Good rustic car parking, entrance to restaurant signage would improve experience, great plentiful food and service. Definitely recommend.
