Opened in 2010, Robata JINYA reflects cooking techniques and traditions passed down from Tomo’s father combined with his personal deep appreciation for the City of Angels. Now expanding to Honolulu, Hawaii, Robata JINYA plays to traditional robatayaki service of slow charcoal-grilled skewered meats and vegetables as well as exotic sushi and sashimi plates. Tomo aims to provide a lively space where sharing of small plates, as well as conversation, is encouraged. Further supporting the mission of comradery, Tomo chose the name “JINYA” in reference to the historical estates of samurai that later served as community meeting points. Welcome to Robata JINYA.

We had a great dinner at Robata jINYA! We shared all the dishes and everything tasted amazing. The raw fish was very fresh and each dish had its own unique flavor!

This was my first time at Robata JINYA. I started with Three Dots hot sake. For food we ordered the Soft Shell Crab Tempura Roll, the A5 Wagyu Roll, the 9 Sashimi Moriawase and for dessert we ordered the Purple Sweet Potato Mont Blanc. The pricing here was a little higher than I expected but the food was so delicious! Worth every penny. Hot sake just hits different. If you haven’t had hot sake you need to try it. It will change your life. So smooth and the flavor tastes so much more amazing. This was hands down the best soft shell crab I’ve ever had. I’ve never had A5 Wagyu roll but the name speaks for itself. Top of the line beef. AMAZING. The sashimi is chef selection and it was so tasty and delicious. Kept wanting more afterwards. I’m probably going to do the Omakase next time around. The Purple Sweet Potato Mont Blanc is a work of art. They “noodle” the sweet potato right in front of you. I almost didn’t want to eat it based on presentation alone. But glad I did. I didn’t our servers name but she was the BEST! Very friendly. Complimented our selections. Made suggestions on things she liked. Corrected our order before we even realized it was wrong when nigiri was brought out instead of the sashimi. She even pushed another table up against ours so we didn’t have to cram all the plates on ours. She was attentive and kind. Best service I’ve had in a while. Thank you. I’ll be back for sure.

Hana Koa yeah you ipa beer was good! California dynamite roll (8 pieces) really good! Seared kampachi roll (8 pieces) String beans was delicious! Miso soup awesome! A5 Wagyu really delicious! Spend about $100 for date night.

The food was great but the service was extremely slow. It’s unfortunate that such a nice restaurant with good food does not offer good service. We tried to order a drink and two beers, we were told that all three they were sold out of.

Server was very helpful in explaining menu. Sushi was delicious. Grilled items were okay. The Japanese Old fashioned and other whiskey drink was subpar - watered down.

Wonderful experience! Sat at the sushi counter, ordered the omakase, the food, presentation, and service was impeccable. Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, compliments to the sushi chef, Hide-san! Much aloha!

Robata Jinya is our new favorite place for great Japanese food, service and ambience - the trifecta! My husband and I hosted a group of 6 for a friend's birthday and everyone RAVED!!! We ordered family-style and shared edamame, ceviche, a sashimi platter, nigiri platter, soft shell crav tempura roll, hot stone wagyu garlic rice, agedashi tofu, eggplant with miso, crispy rice spicy tuna nigiri, shrimp tempura, lobster tempura - and lots of sake! My husband loves the Sohomare Kimoto Junmai. Kampai! Highly recommend Robata Jinya! And we love their Jinya Ramen Bar and LBD Japanese Bar, too!

This restaurant was our favorite stop on our Hawaiian vacation. The sushi was top on its class. So many different options and variations to choose from. The service was top notch. Our waiter was so helpful with choices and so happy he made some of the ones he did because we would have never have chosen them on our own and it would have been a big lose not to try. Thank you for. Wonderful evening
