    I booked with a credit card but get a call asking me to call back to confirm. I tried twice but nobody picked up. Apparently the office is closed at the weekend. So why ask to call back? Food, service and ambiance all very good.

    Kept waiting for over 30 minutes for our booked table. The roast beef was terrible!

    Substantially changed since the recent refurbishment, this longstanding favourite is struggling with its identity. At 7.30pm on a Saturday, half of the restaurant was full of customers having afternoon tea. The other half was partially filled with customers on the traditional menu. Service was a bit slow - our pre dinner drinks took ages and before we had finished those, our starters arrived. Food was excellent, portions were almost too large. The decor for Halloween (and the bizarre dia del muertos face painting and costumes on some of the staff) felt designed for instagram and not the regulars.

    Only asked at the beginning of the meal if I wanted a drink, never re asked, should not have to get attention on a waiter to order more drinks, roast potatoes were very hard, broccoli had too much bite, chateaubriand asked for medium but was definitely very rare only a few mm around the edge was not red! Had the food and service been better then would have been worth the price. The restaurant and atmosphere are lovely and the scotch egg was amazing.

    Very good experience with excellent food and wine. Would have been 5 stars across the board if it had a larger choice on the menu at lunchtime

    Great food in beautiful surroundings. The breakfast was delicious and the coffee the best I’ve had in a king time. Ideal start to a day out in London - so CV lose to lots of sights. Highly recommended!

    We enjoyed our meal at Roast, our first visit, but our generally good experience was marred by a couple of things. We thought the food was excellent, especially the aged beef that we shared between three. The service was charming and friendly but let down by a long delay in our side dishes appearing after our beef had been served. The main downside was the noise level. We were seated in the upper part of restaurant, where it seemed that nearly all the other diners were large parties at long tables making a lot of noise, so that the three of us battled a bit to make ourselves heard. So overall, a mixed experience.

    I’ve never written a bad review for Roast, as it is one of my favourite restaurants and the one I recommend to family and friends. Though everything was ok as I would expect, I am very disappointed that we were charged extra for a dish we did not have. Have emailed the restaurant twice with little acknowledgment back and still no one has had the decency to email or call me to discuss the discrepancy.
