Looked this restaurant up, trying to find a decent restaurant overlooking the Bay. At first appearance, walking in restaurant looked like a nice place to eat. Staff was friendly and helpful as possible. The service was very slow. There was hardly anybody in the restaurant on a Friday night at 7:30 in downtown Tampa. That should’ve been the first clue. Ordered the calamari for starter and it came out cold,soggy and the calamari was rubbery. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which was excellent flavor, but it was brought to the table barely heated. . It was a little hotter than Luke warm. I don’t know if it was sitting out within to have the server bring to us that caused it to be cold or if they just not serving food at proper food temperatures. Regardless the reason, food needs to come out hot. I didn’t complain about that but the real kicker was my father ordered the New York strip med rare. The most expensive thing on their menu and we had to send it back and ask something else. It was not cooked properly. It was medium rare, but it was tough as hell and if you don’t know how to cook strip correctly, that’s how it will be not sure what kitchen cook staff is doing, but they need to step their game up.. I will give credit where credit is due, and I hate giving bad reviews as I own a restaurant myself, but when food quality in the whole experience is subpar to this extreme, I have to let others know and hopefully will see this review and others that I am sure that negatively have posted to make the improvements needed to be a great restaurant. Great location, nice hotel, nice restaurant in appearance but if you’re looking for a quality dining experience with great food, I’d go elsewhere. Thank you.

The main meal portions were smaller than I wanted but the dessert was huge. Everything tasted good.

The buffet food was no good. Suggest ordering off the menu for a fresher meal.

Our server named Cyrus was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to all four ladies at our table. When we couldn't decide which Chardonnay to choose, He brought 3 samplings to the table for us to pick the one we like. Our luncheon was perfect and so was the beautiful view of the river. We can't say enough nice things about our lunch at River's Edge.

The River’s Edge is…as implied…on the river at the Tampa Riverwalk Hotel. It sits off to the side and feels more like a bar upon walk up than a destination restaurant. The view of the river can’t be beat once you walk in, however. It just feels like an average hotel bar/restaurant with a nice view. The service was not good. Either the “buffet” for breakfast was not out in time, delivery or restock was slow, or they didn’t properly stagger the food for other meals. We would not have gone to the dining room without the extra Hilton credit. The pool bar was much better. The food comes from the same kitchen but either is served more quickly or they make it better for the pool crowd. Unfortunately the food in general also wasn’t great. It would either all come out as once (kitchen or service idk) or it would come out cold or undercooked. Either way, not a fan. Overall, beautiful view. Fail on the service and good. Cheers.

The pictures look great, and the hotel looks nice. We did not stay at the hotel we just went for the nice restaurant, however when you actually get there, there is no restaurant. Just a normal hotel food lobby with random tables and chairs, no hostess so even though we had a reservation it was just seat yourself. Some of the tables had little flies/ants on it, and the service was 1 waitress for about 10 tables, very poor but she was trying her best. While we were there we saw at least 50% of people sit, wait, and end up leaving due to how poor of a set up and how slow it was. The food was okay, but definitely not worth $25 a person for the quality it was. We won’t be back unfortunately, and it will be a “date night” I hope in a few years we can sit back and laugh at.

Restaurant was closed due to Gasparilla and hotel just had a breakfast buffet for $25/ person instead… Was disappointed a reservation could be booked and no indication of the restaurant being closed until we walked up in person.

Service was extremely slow. Food was ok. It is more of a bar ambiance than a restaurant.

It is a breakfast buffet and they charge &25/person. There is no menu and they blame it on the owners changing and the website not being updated, yet the menu shows at the bar as well. The food was gross too.
