We couldn’t fault the service and the food was good. However, it wasn’t very warm and plates weren’t hot

My partner and I were visiting London for our honeymoon and on our last day, we decided to go to River Restaurant for our final night and get a good dinner to celebrate the trip and being married for a week! The food was great but the service was horrible. We were sat in a corner table that was very close to another and got our server and they said they would be right back to give us some time to look at food menu. About 20 mins later we are met with a different server who does not explain the situation, nor introduces themselves, but merely says “So ready for food?” My partner and I ordered starters and they asked for mains, which seemed a bit rushed but we picked what looked good and went with it as well as two glasses of wine. We would not get the glasses of wine until our mains when I reminded our server and received no apologies and someone else brought our wine also with no apology. You may ask why didn’t I ask earlier for the forgotten wine? Well, our server didn’t check on us and when he was checking on the other tables (as were sommeliers and managers) they seemed to just ignore our gaze and move on with the others issues. We felt completely ignored and as if we did something wrong. Food was good and when we were out of water, our server offered to bring us more and almost 20 minutes went by of nothing. Finally a manager came over after all of our food was gone and I asked for some water and they brought some. Was also given dirty silverware but luckily had a spoon and just used that. We were very disappointed and it very much just left a stain on the end of trip as we felt we were treated very differently from the people sitting next to us who were getting multiple courses, bottles of wine, and then some. As if we weren’t as important because we weren’t spending as much money. A truly horrible feeling leaving the restaurant. When we come back to London, we will not be revisiting and our friends who live in London will know as well about our experience.

We had very high expectations and the greeting at the front desk did’t disappoint. We had drinks in the Beaufort bar, lovely environment, but the cocktail wasn’t up to much, which the staff took care of. The hostess to the restaurant was not very welcoming but the rest of the staff were excellent and attentive - well done to whoever hired them. The food was very pricey and not worth the money when compared to many other restuarants we have visited, having said that the Dover Sole was lovely, whilst the steak was mediocre - I have had many that have been better. Overall a very nice experience, a little let down by the food.

A really good experience, overall the service was great. It was a really nice touch to get a glass of fizz on arrival. However I did have to request that the wine I ordered be poured with my meal. Beautiful restaurant and hotel- would definitely go back if I visit London again!

Good food, well presented and served, but huge disparity in portion sizes. On the fixed price menu the mackerel was a fair size, but the Sea Bass Ceviche was tiny. The mushroom risotto was also reasonable, but the Bouillabaisse was misdescribed (it was not a hearty soup at all) and again, tiny. Had I not ordered a side of chips I would have left feeling hungry. Very disappointing for a venue of this repute.

Splendid: start to finish. Impeccable service, a first rate sommelier, exquisite food (the beef Wellington is incomparable) and the friendliest ambience. Thank you. Please restore the sweeping grandeur of the entry to the River Restaurant through the main lobby as it was lost on my companions’ maiden visit. I shall just have to bring them back once renovation work is complete. All the best.

Food was of very high quality and good portion sizes. Certainly didn’t come away feeling hungry or wanting more. The Monk Fish curry was exceptional and the Fish Pie was tasty and large. Service was very friendly and attentive. If we had a slight complaint, it’s that we felt that some of the wines well overpriced (knowing what you can pay for them retail). Everyone needs to make a profit to survive, but felt the mark up on the ones we knew was too much. One Example: Whispering Angel approx. £20 - selling restaurant price £95 - really

The whole experience was outstanding from the walking in through the savoys rotating doors to being greeted by staff. We had a seat next to the window overlooking the river. Tha ambiance was fantastic and the food was out of this world. Cannot recommend enough
