Located in the heart of Birmingham, near the cathedral, Riva Blu offers a cozy ambiance and a diverse menu. During my second visit, I started with an appetizer of fried balls made of cheese and aubergines. The flavor was pleasant, but I would have preferred them served a bit warmer to enhance the overall experience. For the main course, I opted for a Diavola pizza, featuring spicy salami and an abundance of peppers. The salami was flavorful and well-cooked, but the peppers were slightly overwhelming, masking some of the other tastes of the pizza. While the pizza was enjoyable, the balance of ingredients could have been better. I’m not entirely sure if there was 'nduja on the pizza, as it wasn't particularly noticeable. The highlight of the meal was the lemon dessert, which was superb—refreshing and perfectly balanced in sweetness and tartness. To accompany the meal, I had a good beer, as I usually do, followed by an Amaro del Capo. I concluded with a shot of limoncello, which was excellent, though I would have preferred it served a bit colder. Overall, Riva Blu offered a good dining experience, though there are a few areas for improvement. The atmosphere and quality of food make it worth a visit, especially for the desserts and drinks.

With the amazing reviews I have heard I wanted to treat my other half for his birthday! The table booking we could only have was 9:30pm! Which is late but we still went. Then we came to found out we need to order straight away as the kitchen will be closing. So we never had a chance to look at the menu and had to choose whilst a waitress was over looking us. Then they ran out of pizzas because of a table of 50 people. They then rushed us to eat so they could get our bill. We was in there for 45 mins max… do not allow table bookings for 9:30pm onwards if you are going to rush us! Just felt extremely rude and ruined the whole evening. They even nearly forgot the complimentary cake for my partners birthday which I had to ask for twice !

Not a great experience. Arrived 10mins early, unable to get a drink at the bar, kept being told someone would come over to us & take our order, but nobody did. Seated at our table and no immediate drinks order taken. Drinks turned up moments before starters. Beer glass handed over with a bottled beer had greasy finger prints over it. Calzone was cool/luke warm in the middle. Couldn’t finish it because of the temperature/texture of it, quite sloppy in the centre. Service charge added to the bill. Food was reasonably priced, venue itself is really nice. Great theme & decor. Overall disappointed & wont be revisiting. Went previously when it was Gino’s & we had a great experience.

Highly recommend Riva. Outstanding food, beautiful restaurant and the gentleman whom served was engaging and polite (I believe he was the manager). Prices are lates 20’s but the quality of the food was value.
