The food was fantastic. My rib eye was top quality and cooked exactly to my specifications. My dining companions had the tuna and the sea bass. Both were extremely pleased with the freshness and preparation. The sides were grilled artichokes, green beans, and a baked potato. All excellent. The beet salad and the Caesar salad were well composed and delicious. The issues? They don’t use real butter. They bring this whipped crap to the table that they try and pass off as butter. We requested real butter, and the server, who was actually kind of snarky from the beginning, insisted it was real. We told him it wasn’t and ask if they had any pats, and he rudely turned around and left the table without acknowledgement. The waiter also screwed up the drink order, and when we reordered it correctly, he didn’t comp the drink or offer to fix it. His attitude sort of dampened the excellence of the evening. Rittenhouse Grill automatically adds a 20% tip to the check which explains why this guy didn’t feel he needed to give his best service, I suppose. To his credit, he did tell us that the service was added as he brought the bill. To tell you the truth, I am an excellent tipper but never would have tipped this guy 20%. He doesn’t belong in a restaurant of this quality. If/when we go back, I will specifically request NOT to be seated in his section. We left discussing the room and the excellence of the food, but we also were really thrown off by the service. The host, the manager and the bus staff were superior- this guy was a total bummer.

One of the best NY strips and Roast ribs ever. Delicious octopus! Sides were great too! Piano ambience wonderful! Expensive but totally worth it!

My wife and I live 5 blocks from Rittenhouse Grill and we went there recently for our anniversary. It was our first time there after living here for over 10 years. I can't believe we've never been there, it was absolutely fantastic and we'll definitely go there again - it's on our favorites list now. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and the ambience was just perfect for our anniversary dinner. The piano player added a special touch as well. I hear the happy hour is great there as well, we'll have to check that out next.

We were disappointed with the experience. While my food was good, my wife's veal chop was very fatty with little meat. The staff was very friendly and our busboy was attentive. However, the service was only fair. The ambience was nice and having piano music in the background was very pleasant. Given that we knew the restaurant was upscale and would be pricey, we expected more from the experience.

On Sunday it is BYOB which gave us the option to bring a VERY good bottle of wine. Prime rib is a specialty so three had that and I went with 1/2 rack of lamb. Everyone loved their choice. The clams casino was a huge hit and one diner said it was best they ever had. The key lime pie was so so and that could be improved. Our Waiter Dillon was very professional and had a wonderful personality.

The RiTteNhouse Grill is by far the classiest and very elegant restaurant. Love the piano. It was a wonderful dining experience not to mention the very delicious and amazing food.

The food was perfectly prepared, the service was great, and the atmosphere was very elegant and upscale. What really bothered me, however, was that even on a dinner for 2, they added in the gratuity. This, to me, is a very low class move. Really? I would have actually tipped our sever more, but they got what they got. Yes, there was the option to added an extra tip, but I won't out of principle. Either leave it to me to decide the amount, which is the proper etiquette, or don't. And what if my service had been lousy, and I didn't want to leave the amount that they added?
