Riccardo a commencé sa carrière très jeune dans le prestigieux « GIRARROSTO », le restaurant familial à Milan. Puis, en 1982, il a déménagé aux États-Unis et a ouvert le célèbre Sonny Bono's à Los Angeles. En 1987, il a d'abord travaillé avec son cousin Roberto Ruggeri (gérant du Venture Bice) et ouvert avec lui le Bice New York, à Los Angeles, ainsi que de nombreux autres restaurants dans le monde entier. Aujourd'hui, après trois ans en tant que chef exécutif du Bice à Chicago, il a décidé, avec sa femme (et sous-chef), Veronica, et sa cousine (serveuse), Barbara, d'utiliser son art culinaire et sa créativité dans son restaurant baptisé à son nom : le « Riccardo Trattoria ». Grâce au savoir-faire d'un connaisseur de la cuisine italienne, les plats sont préparés avec une essentialité quasi zen qui a façonné la vie professionnelle et existentielle de Riccardo.

Normally love this place. The food is excellent. However, the last few times we’ve been the service has been awful. I’m going to give it a miss for a while.

The meal was excellent, starters (notably grilled calamari) were particularly good as was dessert. Enjoyed veal chop and halibut very much. Service was great, attentive and speedy. A little loud when busy. Will return.

We visited before and the food was excellent. We visited and ordered off the early menu and frankly did not care for our entrees. We will try again but avoid the early menu options. Service was good as usual.

My wife and I have dined at the Trattoria many times. We live close enough that we pick up dinners and enjoy them at home. The service is attentive and not overwhelming. The appetizers and entres are always properly prepare. We have enjoyed every dining experience.

Highly recommended. We visited Tuesday for a 5:30p reservation. The restaurant was fairly empty but it was early on a Tuesday. Service was friendly & very good and the food was excellent. The ambience was very nice with subdued Italian music in the background (I dislike Italian restaurants with loud pop music). We had the fried calamari & shrimp appetizer, veal ravioli in a parmesan cream sauce and the lobster ravioli as entrees. With a glass of wine for each of us the bill including tip was ~$150. The quality of the meal was clearly much better than a lot of similarly priced places around Old Town (although Gussies is pretty good). They offer an "early bird" special with an appetizer, entree and dessert for ~$40 which seems like a good price if dining between 4p - 6p. Anyway we will dine here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals (veal scallopini parmigiana and the seafood stew) All staff were friendly and attentive. We had an awesome experience.

Pasta was done perfectly. Tried the risotto, pesto & carbonara dishes all very good and tasty.
