    We had an excellent dinner at Reve last night. Great genuine bistro experience with excellent service and lovely outdoor seating.

    Got reservations as soon as the weekly special of frogs legs was posted. Love grenouilles. Sat next to the harpist which was great and always enjoy Sofie as our server. But these were not traditional frogs legs. Breaded and cooked like mini chicken drummettes and bland by themselves and needed to be rolled and soaked in the sauce (which was good). But only four little legs to a full entree serving is completely ridiculous. Have ordered these many times in France and the typical serving is a stacked plate of at least 12 or more.

    Hello Marilyn - We're glad you enjoyed the music & Sophie's service! We can't speak to what you had in France, and what you mean by "traditional" because there are many ways they are made in France. We are thinking in France you had much smaller legs piled high which isn't unusual, but not the preparation chef chose. The frogs legs entree we served had 6-7 oz of meat, as well as a base of mashed potatoes and the sauce, priced accordingly at $20. Had he wanted more, we gladly would have ordered you another order (or half order). The complaint about the frog legs without the sauce, Chef Paul puts sauces on the plate because it's part of the dish. It's like saying I ordered pasta with marinara sauce, but the noodles were plain unless you ate them with the sauce.

    This was our first visit to Reve, celebrating a birthday. It was a wonderful treat on all counts: quality of service and food, ambience -- it could not have been better. As a treat for our first visit, we had a taste of their gazpacho, a unique (to me) combination of tomato, watermelon and strawberries. You could taste each component distinctly with each sip. We started with soupe à l'oignon (onion soup) that was as tasty as any I have had in a Paris bistro. Then I had the trout special and my husband had the ribeye steak and frites. Both were outstanding (and my husband and I agreed that the frites were exceptional -- I was [almost] sorry that I didn't order the moules marinière and frites!). We also ordered a bottle of the 2018 Margaux -- which I can certainly recommend to any Bordeaux lover. And the service couldn't have been better. Thank you, Victoria, for adding so much on that score to our evening! A wonderful find in Lafayette.

    A classic, but comfortable, restaurant located in an off spot in Lafayette. Not to be missed, but make your reservations far in advance. Garden seating is delightful on a warm evening.

    I love the food there! I had the scallops over a veggie risotto, everything was cooked perfectly. Delicious, creamy risotto, perfectly seared fresh scallops. Nothing chewy like I've had at so many places, butter! The chef redesigns his menu regularly, so it may not be there when you go, but I'd definitely recommend it. The homemade pate was delicious as well. I had the gazpacho of strawberry and watermelon, that was refreshing though a bit too sweet. And all the French classics: snails, steak frites, ... common in almost every bistro of the bay area.

    It was a wonderful meal in a lovely setting. Gentle harp music playing in the background by a very talented professional musician. We started out with the small $23 charcuterie with 3 selections. It came with lots of different breads and crackers along with olives, pickled veggies, grapes, almonds and figjam. Perfect sized for an appetizer for two. I had the muscles and french fries. The seafood was delicious and the fries were, quit honestly, the best I ever had. Really perfect. My husband had the vegetarian risotto. It was rich a creamy and topped with the sweetest corn and lightly sautéed in butter, mushroom I apologize for using the word "perfect" everytime, but it just was. I don't belive I've had better. The service was just as good as the food. The whole cost with no alcohol or dessert (just trying to treat our bodied better), came to$94.00 plus a $20 tip. Slight expensive for us, but we needed a treat. And boy was it. I look forward to returning. Perfect, perfect perfect evening
