Restaurant rebel. is the story of a small pop up, born through lockdown, that managed to find its brick & mortar home. Based on the lower floor of a typical tyneside house, it's the debut restaurant for locally born Lindsay Rushton.

What a result to find this fabulous local restaurant. Revisiting the area after a 30 year absence I was delighted to see this recommendation in the Michelin guide. We went on a Saturday lunchtime so it was pretty quiet but this meant we had amazing personal service from the GM Richard. Alongside the tasting menu we chose to have the carefully curated wine flight which was super interesting with wines from the Uk including Leeds (couldn’t believe it either) which was very palatable and paired well with the food. The food itself was fabulous. Every dish delicious, a decent size and we left feeling full and sated but not stuffed. These chaps can cook. Richard looked after us so well and we will certainly return. Thank you all for a wonderful lunch in Heaton. Worth a venture out of the city centre.

A truly amazing meal in wonderful surroundings. Welcoming, knowledgable staff, who all clearly had a real passion for their food, wines and ensuring the service they gave was top notch. Every element of the ten course menu was delicious, with flavours combining perfectly to produce sublime tasting food. High quality, local produce had been treated with love and respect in every dish. The paired wines were perfectly matched and the staff gave just the right amount of information about each of them and why they had been chosen. Great to experience some lesser known wines too, especially some English choices. We loved the informal yet really attentive style of service. Rebel is a fantastic restaurant and I would highly recommend a visit there.

Amazing service, all of the staff were really friendly & knowledge. Menu was an interesting mix, although portions were very small, even compared to other tasting menus. therefore the overall cost meant the value wasn’t great.
