L’Ostal is a Provencal restaurant rooted in history and tradition celebrating the cuisines of Southern France & its boundaries. Stemming from the old Occitania language, the word ‘ostal’ refers to house & the warmth of hospitality that encompasses welcoming one into your home. Throughout the six dialects of this language starting in Catalonia, stretching through the Languedoc into Provence and onto the Alps of Piemonte, they all embrace this welcoming through their cooking. We celebrate the traditions of each country through their amazing cuisine as well as showcasing the wine and heritage of indigenous products. We look forward to bringing our warmth in hospitality & dining to the great community of Darien, Connecticut. Welcome to our home at L’Ostal.

Outdoor seating is available, but only offered weather depending, and reservations can be made day of, only over the phone, starting at 2pm on the day of.

Excellent Chef! Amazing staff! The food never disappoints have tried many different things on the menu. Worth every penny and more for such a wonderful relaxed yet sophisticated venue!

I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for the wonderful dining experience I had at your establishment. The service was exemplary, and the food was not only seasoned to perfection but also presented beautifully. I particularly noted how the staff efficiently cleared the table and cleaned up after each course, which added to the overall pleasant experience. However, I would like to offer a small suggestion for improvement. The cleaning product used in the restaurant had a strong scent that was somewhat noticeable. While it did not detract significantly from the meal, a fragrance-free or less aromatic cleaning product might enhance the dining atmosphere even further. Thank you for a memorable evening, and I look forward to visiting again soon.

Very limited menu... arrived at 8 and 2 of the 3 specials were out. Drinks are absurdly expensive. Food was mediocre...I had the duck...it was too well done and dry. We started with a haricots and pistachio app that was swimming in butter. Waiter was a nice guy. Super loud.

SUPERB dining experience. Super food. Superb service. Superb cocktails. Superb customer service. Incredibly lovely interaction from before our arrival to the wonderful birthday ice cream surprise. We all loved our appetizers (especially salmon tartar special) and entrees (spaghetti with clams, gnocchi), and the cocktails were spectacular. Truly a special place to spend a birthday. The power went off briefly because of a storm but the staff didn't miss a beat and the back-up power was on within seconds. Professionals through and through. Thank you!!
