Restaurant Claudine, Carpenter Carpenter’s third establishment, resides in a remodeled home in the up-and-coming Government Hill neighborhood. The space offers snug tables surrounded by elegant hand-painted wallpaper, vintage chandeliers, and sentimental pictures of our namesake, Houston Carpenter’s grandmother, Claudine.

We now offer lunch and dinner Tuesday-Sunday, with Tea Time on Saturday and Sunday morning's. Restaurant Claudine has recently launched a new menu that features New American cuisine for both lunch and dinner.

Claudine was beautiful and we loved the decor of all the rooms. Food and drink were both lovely and well-priced. Kristen was our server and very kind and attentive. We had a fabulous time and will be back! It was a perfect Friday lunch!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Claudine is such a hidden gem in San Antonio! Kristen, our server, took great care of us, making the whole experience enjoyable. We had the artichokes, crudo, and Coq au Vin with a bottle of rosé bubbles – each dish was well-prepared and full of flavor. The artichokes were a nice start with a tasty aioli, the crudo was fresh and bright , and the Coq au Vin was cozy and delicious. We finished with the crème brûlée for dessert, which was the perfect ending – creamy with that satisfying caramelized top. Everything was spot on. Definitely a place worth checking out for a relaxed yet memorable meal! We will definitely be back.

I went there a year ago or so and it was great. This time the only thing that was good was the escargot. The bread was fine, the tuna has inedible, the linguine was alright, the crème brûlée tasted like pudding with sugar on top. We had 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 3 beers, and a dessert for $145. For the prices, I would have been happier going to Jim’s. Also, the menu options were limited. Another sign it was not going to be great was that there were only four other occupied tables when we got there at 7.

To celebrate our wedding anniversary, my wife and I decided to dine at Restaurant Claudine for a taste of their new menu. The ambience was excellent and we were sat in a perfect corner table that allowed us to take in the view of the main dining area. We started with a drink each, a glass of wine for myself and for my expecting wife, a delightful mocktail mojito. My wife ordered the lavender linguine which she did enjoy minus the cherry heirlooms, but that’s because she’s just a picky eater. Otherwise it was one of better dinner entrees she’s had in long time. I myself ordered the Coq au vin that was delectable without being overwhelming rich. To complete our anniversary dinner, we chose the crème brûlée that was just the right amount of sweet. Portion sizes were paired with reasonable prices but the outcome of the dishes were outstanding. We are looking forward to our future dining experiences with Restaurant Claudine.

My friend and I had a wonderful lunch visit to Restaurant Claudine! Our server, Francisco, was very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable of the menu. I loved every bite of my escargot (and I appreciate that the kitchen took the time to pre-slice and butter the accompanying warm baguette) and the mussels were absolutely perfect...they were plump and juicy (without any closed shells n the bowl!) and the sauce was SOOO flavorful! My friend enjoyed her french onion soup (which was served perhaps a bit on the "too scalding hot" side...she had to wait quite some time before it was safe to eat!) and she proclaimed the lavender linguini as "absolutely delicious!". Many thanks to the talented kitchen crew and Francisco for a memorable meal! We look forward to future visits to this beautiful neighborhood gem!

We have been in previously and the restaurant was a buzz and vibrant with great service and food. This visit there was 2 other reservations on a Saturday night with 1 server and 1 server assistant working everyone. Service was great, ambiance was not lively and food was fair at best.

Tea service was great! The tea sandwiches were fresh and flavorful. The French 75 cocktails were perfect as well.

Breath of fresh air in a very rundown neighborhood. Terrible sidewalks, trash and litter everywhere, parking a challenge. But upon arriving at the restaurant, it’s a totally different world. To say it was a neighborhood gem is an understatement. It’s a very beautiful old home with lots of tiny rooms all decorated beautifully. We’re disappointed that the menu given to us was not the same as on their website but were able to find several selections. Okay done with the not so good stuff, now for the amazing stuff. We had a nice bottle of white wine, and had the escargot and the tuna crudo appetizers, both amazing, my wife had the French onion soup which was a few degrees cooler than the sun, but she’s a connoisseur of French onion soup, she really enjoyed it, only disappointment was the main course was delivered before she could finish it. One of my pet peeves. For our mains my wife had Halibut, large portion and perfectly cooked. I had the lavender linguine with little neck clams which was presented beautiful and very flavorful and filling. Our server Marissa was spot on and very knowledgeable of the menu items. Other than the location it was a great dining experience.
