Located within Birmingham's Mailbox, Restaurant at The Woods is an immersive casual dining experience. Our unique setting offers a standard, halal and vegan menu, with a variety of wild and farmed ingredients. Our restaurant is designed to recreate the beauty of nature indoors. With changing seasons and scenery we have towering trees, forest foliage, waterfalls and all the sounds of nature.

Our menu: We have three menus - Standard, Halal and Vegan. Each of which is compromised of - breakfast, lunch, dinner. In terms of drinks we serve barista quality coffee as well as a range of other hot and iced drinks. We also have a fully stocked bar, offering cocktails, spirits, wines draught and bottled beer and cider.

Not good. Fish was greasy, flavours didn’t really go together. Pheasant was as dry as a bone. Macaroni cheese was literally horrible. Could have done a better job at home. Ambience is cheap and tacky. Toilets out of order, one disabled loo available. Dryer useless. Glasses were dirty and sticky. This comes across as a bottomless brunch venue and not somewhere to enjoy a fairly expensive (and definitely overpriced) meal.

Friendly staff, who went out of their way to help a wheelchair user. I had the steak, which I asked for medium rare, it was excellent- the best steak I’ve had out in ages. Would thoroughly recommend this establishment.

Service was very friendly and timely but I felt there was too long a delay in approaching after the meal was finished. The toilet facility (disabled only available) needs attention and the hand dryer was of no use in drying. Only rump steak available; a shame, as I would have liked a fillet. However, I would visit the establishment at a future date.

Had high expectations for the restaurant but we left feeling disappointed. The service was very slow despite not being very busy, which other reviews have also stated. Our meals were quite cold as well which we didn't understand given the restaurant was fairly quiet. Staff were ok but the service was very lethargic. We had to ask for everything and nobody really checked on us to ensure the meals were ok. We also found the tables quite claustrophobic.

Great food selection, we had Hunters Hoard which was delicious with venison, duck etc cooked to perfection. Luke was great and looked after us all evening, so had a great time dining there.

Unfortunately I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone moving forward. After arriving at 1:30 and ordering our food around 1:40, we still not had received our food by 3:10. There were other people who received their food who had come in after us as well. We were not even offered a complementary drink whilst we waited. After asking 3 times where the food was or why it was delayed we simply left without eating. Very disappointing. Plus, the supervisor was just not bothered at all. Will not be returning after this terrible experience. Ruined my friends birthday.

We arrived, seated and ordered drinks about 15 minutes after arriving. We then also ordered our food a few minutes later when the drinks arrived. We were told the food would take 30 minutes to be ready (very long by usual standards but we could manage that). In the end it took about an hour to get the food. The waiter serving us was very non-chalant about it which I found really dissapointing. In the end, they didn't try to do anything to make sure we walked out as happy customers... added their usual service charge on top even after the dismal service. The whole experience was saved by the fact that the food was nice. Overall though, I would not want to return there for the same service.
