Repeal is Whiskey Row’s only oak-fired steakhouse, located at the birthplace of J.T.S. Brown & Sons Bourbon Company in Louisville. A stylish departure from a traditional steakhouse, Repeal uses a wood-fired grill stoked daily with reclaimed American Oak bourbon barrels. Repeal is a tribute to the Repeal of Prohibition – a place to see, be seen and celebrate the rich tradition of the building in which it resides.

Now serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

We had a wonderful experience at Repeal. We were seated on the Terrace and it was quiet and peaceful. From start to finish, this was one of the best meals we have ever had. Incredible staff and service.

Service was outstanding! Old fashioneds delicious, was our anniversary, we split a Cobb salad. Mashed potatoes and the 22 oz ribeye. Everything was excellent except the ribeye was very fatty. Hence the 4 stars. They were nice to comp us a desert for our anniversary

This place did not disappoint and met every expectation that we had. From start to finish the food and service was outstanding. We’ve been to numerous steakhouses throughout the US and this by far has been our favorite one.

**Review:** We recently dined here, and while the service was excellent, the food and overall experience left a lot to be desired. Here's a quick breakdown: **Pros:** - Phenomenal wait staff - Great wine selection, cocktails, and glassware - Delicious bread (though a bit salty) **Cons:** - Flavorless mac and cheese with a hard crust - Steak was cool, slightly too chewy, and lacked the “wow” flavor of a $60 filet - Short rib wasn’t as tender as it could have been - Grits and lobster bisque were bland and cooled quickly - Bar area too cramped - Brighter than desired lighting downstairs - Bugs on the upper terrace, and we left smelling like grill smoke **Summary:** Despite great service, the food didn’t meet expectations for the price. We’ll likely choose Jeff Ruby’s or Jack Fry’s next time for a more satisfying experience.

Our server was absolutely outstanding. This was the best service I’ve ever gotten at a restaurant. He talked about the history of the building. He gave us plenty of time to think about what we wanted to order. He let us have time to talk and to soak in everything. He gave us time to pace ourselves once we ordered food and drinks before we got to our main course, and before we got to desert to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday. This was unlike any other typical restaurant. I ordered the Repeal signature old-fashioned and it was outstanding. Appetizer I ordered the French onion soup. I am so very picky and particular about this soup and it was by far the best I’ve ever had. The rolls that they gave before dinner absolutely were the best bread I ever got at a restaurant. I had high expectations for my filet mignon. I ordered medium because in the past every restaurant I’ve been to has cooked their medium, almost rare, and I still like it pretty pink but more on the cooked side, hence medium. My steak came out very charred, and it was very hard to cut. Once I got it cut, it looked like it was more medium-well/almost well done and I cannot stand steak like that. The white truffle butter I’m so glad I had with it because that gave the steak its flavor it desperately needed. I did not want to be one of those customers that sent their food back especially since this place up until the steak was one of the best I’ve ever ate at. I just was disappointed since it was a $65 steak, and the fact that this place had high reviews for being a steakhouse, I expected better from the start. The side dish my fiancé and I decided to split was the sweet potato casserole, and if it were not for the corn flakes and the candied nut granola with the toasted marshmallow, it lacked flavor on its own. The bourbon bread pudding that my fiancé picked as his birthday dessert was the absolute best we've ever had. Overall, it was a great time, we will be back, and will order differently next visit.

We sat on the terrace it was really unique and we had a great time! Lily was our server and we were a little rambunctious but she was very friendly and took great care of us!! Definitely a come back!
