Located in the heart of Overtown, Red Rooster serves comfort food celebrating the roots of American cuisine and the diverse culinary traditions of the neighborhood. At Red Rooster, we want to share the story of Overtown with our guests, and offer a platform to celebrate local artists, musicians and culinary talents. If I could give the service negative stars I would. They gave away our table before we got to the restaurant, even though we still arrived within the 15 minute grace period indicated on the reservation confirmation. They wouldn’t let us know how long the wait time would be and said “hopefully” we’d be able to sit and have dinner. Instead they redirected us to the bar to stand in the corner until a table maybe came up. Had an incredible experience at the location in Harlem, and love chef Marcus Samuelsson, so this was disappointing. Would recommend everyone visit the location in New York instead if they have the chance.

First time diners. We went with four of us and shared all. The entire meal was well prepared. Could have done better with the cadence and they seemed to be out of a number of items. Notwithstanding we loved the restaurant and the vibe. Will repeat

Great service, approachable and knowledgeable staff, delicious food in a streamlined assorted selection. Side dishes provided a good balance. Highly recommend dining here. High chairs were available for children as well. The cocktail creations were easy to drink a second round of.

We have been to this restaurant only one other time and thought the food was great. This last visit I felt that the food was mediocre, warm and didn’t have much flavor. I ordered the jerk chicken, collard greens(I’m a Southerner) and they were not good. The cornbread was delicious, the jerk chicken had very little spice and sat on a bed of sweet potatoes that didn’t add anything to the dish at all. My husband ordered the fish and oxtail fried rice and collards, the oxtail fried rice was just ok. The drinks were good. The vibe was outstanding and we got to meet Marcus, who was hosting an event. Will we go back, yes we will. I just hope this was an isolated incident.

We always enjoy this restaurant, but when we booked for a Sunday lunch, we didn't realize that they had a wonderful live singer entertaining. She was wonderful and made the lunch that much better!
